Users can be use a username with other forbidden characters like "." All users are welcome to improve on it :p

    Um, I thought in bbPress 0.9 this was no longer needed - yes, I just tested bbPress without the plugin and you can create users with spaces in their logins.

    I guess it still has some use in allowing other forbidden characters in usernames like "."

    By the way, I believe the phrase you are trying to convey is: "all users are welcome to improve on it"

    I actually want to do the opposite and was hoping that you could help me out.

    I would like to RESTRICT users from signing up with spaces/special characters in their username.

    Main reason is that those kind of usernames are unable to login to WordPress and their profiles of Buddypresss are not working.

    Please let me know if it is possible to have the exact same specifications for registering in BBpress as in WordPress.
