Well everything looks okay, sesssions enabled and no safe mode.
I will have to write you a small test script to see if sessions are actually working or not.

What's the equivalent of this for WP?

  3. I noticed today about 10 spam registrations in 13 hours on a site that hasn't really had any since installing this plugin a couple months ago. I wonder if someone has figured out a way around it? Has anyone else seen the same?

Sounds like it's time to enhance it.
Try 0.9.0 which has some quick fixes.
I'll add some more to it later to keep them guessing.

  5. Got the same problem like @chrishajer, testing ver 0.9.0 now, thanks for updating it =)

  6. I got about 30 more spam registrations today. Installing 0.9 now: was using 0.7.1 (I think.)

Thank you. Glad I brought it up.

  7. ver 0.9.0 running 12hrs now without any new spam registrations,
again thanks a lot for updating it.

  8. Seven hours here and no spam registrations. Whatever you did appears to have done the trick. Thanks _ck_.

Yeah they are getting more aggressive now that there are several thousand bbPress sites.

I will do another change this coming weekend that should keep them guessing even more.

I doubt they will give up now that they have realized a prime target.

Users are reporting that anonymous posting (with the latest version) is broken - it is refusing correct answers.

I assume you mean with 1.0a6 that Human Test is not working on anonymous posting.

I don't have the time right now to debug 1.0a6, don't use alpha versions on live sites.

I beg your pardon - I meant the problem is with bb0.9.0.2 running HT 0.9.0. I'm afraid I don't have any detailed info.

HT version 0.9.0 works well for me. Running bbPress version 0.9.0.4

    Thanks!

  14. I was having similar issue with an increase in spam/bot accounts getting registered, but I just upgraded to the new version. Thanks!

Excellent plugin - thanks! I've just installed it in response to a huge amount of bot-spam registrations I've been hit with. It seeems to works perfectly so I'm confident it will help!

  16. This mod is working but still getting around 15 to 20 spam registration a day could there not just be a simple captcha added to the registration page?
These registration are no big deal as they are not activating the accounts but they could fill up a database if not monitored.

    Thanks
    Chris

If you are getting automated registrations on the newest version on this,
then I need to change it again as they've broken it (again).

Make sure the plugin is actually working on your site by trying to enter a wrong answer to the challenge. Make sure it doesn't let you though with a wrong or blank answer.

I just installed this on a newly installed bbpress (0.9.0.4), and the problem is I get a blank page (no content) and no php error message, when I go to register php. Anyone got any advice? It's FreeBSD 7.0, php -v reads 5.2.6.

When you say newly installed, are there any other plugins running?

I've never tested it on freebsd but in theory it should not be any different.

Only thing that is important is sessions support.

Your PHP is not in safe mode is it?

Yes it's safe mode, that's probably the issue, thanks. No tweaks to make it work in safe mode?
