Allows any user (guest or member) to select a different bbPress language for templates.

  1. You can see a demo of this near the bottom-right here: http://bbshowcase.org/forums/

Some languages work better than others. Content is not translated, only the templates.

  2. This is quite nice, thanks. It will help me a lot.

  3. A few tweaks in 0.0.2 now posted.

Also may be helpful, I keep a list of bbPress translations here
(though I do not update it on regular basis so there may be more by now)

  5. Hi, I just like to make a note that this will not work with "Version 1.0-rc-1" and "WordPress MU 2.7.1" under “deep” integration.. you can see the language however it will not change it , it will change the language if the blog language is changed in WP ( and then only the same names are changed and all the other are in default)

WordPress MU 2.7.1 with “deep” integration looks like takes the language from WP and not from bbPress

  6. I read almost every topic about language problems in bbPress, but I didn't get an answer on my questions.
    - I downloaded some language files (german, arabic, dutch) and put them into bb-includes/languages
    - After that I edit in my bb-config.php file "define('BB_LANG', '');" to "define('BB_LANG', 'nl_NL');"
    - And I installed the bb-language-switcher and activate it.

Only the last point works well, but if I select a language in the dropdown menu (for example dutch), the language don't change.

What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate any help.

  7. I forgot the version number: 0.9.0.5
    Someone a solution?

  8. It's likely a bug in my code.
Does the dropdown work if you temporarily try this instead in your config
    define('BB_LANG', ' ');

  9. @_ck_
I deleted the country code, but nothing happens.
I am now upgrading to bbPress 1.0, hopefully that solves the problem.

  10. No, no. Don't upgrade to 1.0, stay with 0.9
Many of my plugins will not work with 1.0
Hopefully you did a backup and can undo.

I am not sure what your issue is, it may have to do with a problem with a theme or conflict with another plugin. It might help if I knew what your forum url was.

  11. On the top of this page is written: Requires bbPress Version: 0.9 or higher.
So I thought it was possible to upgrade to a higher version.
The language problem is now solved in the 1.0 version.

I am now trying to activate the 'Language Switcher'.

  12. Unfortunately I don't have control over how bbpress.org adds "or higher"
Below it also says "Compatible up to: 1.0 alpha 5"

  13. Can you use this plugin without English language files?
I have switched to Bulgarian, but can't switch back to english? The value in the option field for English is empty?
Is it bug or because of the missing english files?
I don't have enough time now to investigate the problem and fix it :)

  14. English is the built in bbPress language. It should always be available.
Are you using 0.9 or 1.0 ? I have not upgraded it for 1.0 and it might have bugs under 1.0

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  15. Yes i'm on version 1.0 from 2 days :)
If i have enough time, i can help you with the fix, just to see how the plugin works :)

  16. Sorry I am not doing any plugin upgrades for 1.0 until December.

  17. Ok, just can you help me if there is no bblang cookie, how to enable the english language? Where the bbpress choose which languange to load? I now have BB_LANG set to bg_BG and is working in Bulgarian, but can't switch back to English, even if the current language is "en"?

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  18. If you set the BB_LANG to a space " " it should default to the built in english.

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  19. Yes ck, if BB_LANG is " " it works perfectly in english, but i want default language to be Bulgarian, this works, but when i select from drop down menu english, it doesn't change to english, even if the cookie is en, after the change. I don't knew, why this is not working, or the bbpress itselfs read only the value from BB_LANG and sets this language.

Also i'm interested in updating the bulgarian language file to 1.0 (currently 0.8) and also to translate some of the plugins that i use (don't knew is it posible) :)
