In the faq I mention how there is little use currently for the post_position in bbPress.
It's not used properly, instead date is used because after the original bbPress design it became more reliable.
Post Position 1 is used in some cases, but rarely if ever beyond that.

One day when topic split/merge is officially in the API, post position will be critical and change everything (again) and break everything (again).

I would strongly caution against using this (or the old move-it plugin) to split/merge topics.

Ok, this is a seriously cool extension. It can even be used to rudimentary merge topics manually. Awesome, thank you!

Let me go out on a limb here and say that it's working with my 1.01 install, hopefully it won't break anything in the longer run.
I have some gallery threads which I keep updated for users and it's really neat to post these changes under their alias.

A usage question: The "Position" attribute doesn't seem to change a thing for the post unless you put in a fitting date to match the chronology, e.g. if I have two posts and #1 is dated Jun 23 2009 19:35:42, the other Jun 23 2009 19:35:49, #1 would show up first even if I would change it's position to #2.
