Sorry for bumping this. But this plugin was added recently on the forum I moderate and I along with the other moderators are curious if there is a way to add an edit/delete function to the poll. Because without one the only way to do so is to delete the thread.

Hi _CK_ great stuff. I was wondering how I can separate topics with polls from topics without polls in my code, so that I can have two separate panels in my layout. The [poll] part was what I wanted to use, but it does not show up when I use get_topic_title(). Any Ideas?

Hi CK, I am aware that you are not updating any plugins for a while which is fine by me... you probably need a break! So seeing as you wont make any edits can you tell me what this means...

This is the message I get when trying to use NightGunners BBPM plugin, it only shows up when I have your BBPress Polls plugin activated...

Warning: include() [function.include]: Filename cannot be empty in /home/harrismarine/harrismarine.co.nz/bbpress/bb-includes/functions.bb-template.php on line 45

I would love to keep using your Poll plugin as my users love it and yes I am using the updated version of BBPress and it is too alte to go back as I have made a lot of changes.

If you find the time to reply I will appreciate it very much ;) Keep up the good work.

I just downloaded 1.0 stable and set it up on my test box and this plugin seems like it's working with one exception: starting a new topic and adding a poll to it right at the beginning doesn't seem to work - there's no "Save" button to save the poll into the topic and saving the topic doesn't save the poll along with it.

But adding poll to a new topic after-the-fact seems to work like a champ so far.

I thtought about this a little more in depth with the people for whom I would be developing this plugin and it turns out for the polls the anonymity is not such a big deal.

Really what they want is some kind of RSVP plugin - who is going to attend what events and how many people are they bringing.

They like the look and feel of this polls plugin however, so I think I'm going to rely on it heavily for inspiration and derive a new plugin from it to allow event organizers to

define an event (as a topic)

define various options for it

Response (yes/no/maybe select box)

Number of guests (numeric/select box)

What food they will bring to share (text input)

collect ever-changing responses from paricipants

That last point is probably the most important one. They need to allow users to change their responses. Actually, now that I think of it, in my little discussion group there was a demand for users to be able to change their votes.

So maybe there are several topics here:
(a) optional anonymity in the polls plugin
(b) vote variability (users can change their mind and overwrite previous poll responses)
(c) an RSVP plugin containing aspects of both a and b and its own stuff.

Sounds like a fun little project for me. :-)

I'm thinking about those things too.

I haven't decided whether a listing of the voters' names after each poll choice (and its percentage) would be be better (but maybe clunkier-looking), or maybe a second loop through all the choices again after the percentages are shown (cleaner, but maybe less cohesively displayed).

I'm trying to hack something together on a test box, and it's coming along, slowly. If I am satisfied with it at some point, I'll show you my ideas if you like.

Well a single mysql query can grab all the usernames to show who voted on what,
but where would you show such information?

I'd also have to add an option to make poll show that info or not.
To be honest I am fairly burnt out on this plugin.

I'll second froodian's comment. I would love to have that too. If I'm reading the serialized stuff stored in the database in the table for meta info on a topic right, it should be pretty straightforward to match up usernames to responses. Has anyone already done something like that?

Thanks for this (along with all your other great plugins) _ck_. The only thing missing for me is the ability to let people see who's voted for what. That capability would be great for our forum.
