Apparently 1.0 changed the way users are created, I solved the problem by bypassing it's functions and using the old method.

Install 0.1.5 and then use this url in your browser to fix Wiki Post:

In your topic meta at the top of each topic it asks you if you want to create a Wiki Post. At least it should if it's working correctly. It won't ask if it already exists in that topic (there is only one wiki post per topic).

Unless I'm missing something, how do you actually set it to create a Wiki post? Is there an option when you create the topic? I couldn't see anything :)

Well like I said it might be possible for Sam to make the plugin "step out of the way" if the before/after email address submitted are identical which would solve this problem.

Optionally (and fairly easily) you could make the plugin unhook itself on the profile page (essentially making it only work on new registrations) so it wouldn't interfere at all. The only catch to this is a registered member could then turn around and change their email address at some point to a restricted address. However you are not using it that way so that might work for you.

BTW, mail.ru is like Russia's version of hotmail.com and has far more legit registrations than spammers.

I know I wasn't using this plugin as intended... but thought it strange that Restrict Registration would only restrict actual registration and profile updates, yet allow those users to post, be moderators, etc. Didn't make sense to me. :D

The plugin I need would be able to "turn off" registration completely. Since it's just me and my friends using my forum, I'd prefer to have registration turned off and use the Admin Add User plugin for all registrations.

However, Restrict Registration works great on the two other bbPress forums I maintain. Perfect for keeping those .ru addresses at bay.

citizenkeith, it's failing because when the user edits their profile page "registrict registration" will always double-check the email address, and then it will always fail.

I am not sure if Sam can make it only kick in if there's been an actual change to the email address before verifying again - it's tricky to detect before/after values.

In theory the real solution for you is a plugin that actually stops auto-activation on accounts, if I understand your needs correctly.

When this plugin is activated, _ck_'s bbPress Signatures plugin stops working.

You see, I use this plugin to restrict ALL registration (by blacklisting all domain extensions). So anybody with .com in their address, even though they are registered users of the forum, can't update their signatures.

If this is fixed, can you also add a "restrict ALL registrations" check box? :)
