WPMimic V.1

  1. So its been a year plus since I visited this forum, I noticed that a couple of people are using WPMimic and are probably hating it. Anyhow, I opened up the theme and spend the last day or two reworking the theme to work with current version of bbPress. I'll post the download link to the download link this friday (02/04/11) finish or not.

Sad to see that bbPress hasn't grown much even after a year of no visitation....

  2. In fact, bbPress is becoming a WordPress plugin. There has been a LOT of development in the last 4 months. More info here:
    http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-plugin-updates

  3. @citizenkeith - thanks for the link. I started reading that thread a few days ago and find that the development kinda stop halfway. Although initially the progress is quite strong then it began to die down.

Anyhow, WPMimic v.1 is ready. Visit: http://vietsonnguyen.com/beta/bbpress/

Let me know how it in IE since I have no access to IE.

  4. So I have downloaded and tested your theme with the following issues/error:

Note: Nothing in the css or template files has been changed this is a straight download, upload and activate.

    - Private messages plugin layout is broken.

Thats actually all I could find. The old version had things like:

    - Broken CSS on editing, registration and editing a profile

I am wondering (praying and begging) if you can fix the pm layout the plugin is: http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bbpm/

    Thanks so much.

    Edit:

in IE9 the site works perfectly fine with the theme (since you wanted to know) - how ever that PM plugin is still an issue

  5. Sorry for the bump but they took away the edit button >_<

    Your registratiuon page does nothing.

Upon registiring for a new account using this theme, I dont get any message and the admin side shows that I do not have a new user, switching back to the default theme this is fixed.

  6. You are right, the registration form does not work for some reason. I'll take a look into it this weekend since I'm in btw projects atm.

As for the bbPM plugin, I'm not sure why its breaking the layout just yet. I think its because of how the header.php and footer.php are coded. I'll try to fix this, not sure how yet but I'll be thinking about it.

  7. Hey just wondering if the issues are fixed

  8. Hello!

Just wanted to let you know that I am still using your v0.2 and I am loving it!

However, I would like to change the background when posting a new topic from the dark color gray to white.

I am not a pro, but I do know how to change the color settings in a php file. But I tried my best to change the colors and none of them referred to the new topic background text box.

I was looking at the style.css

    Please help!

    Thank you.

  9. :)

  10. your recent update - registration doesn't work for update on 2/21/11

  11. @Adrienkb - Are you sure that it doesn't work? I've tested many times and it works great. If you were testing out the registration on my beta site, then i purposely disabled the registration page and its always an update or two behind the actual updated version.

@llny - I don't have the orginal css file to version 0.02 anymore so I can't really look up to the css. Why don't you try the new version 1.0 for now. A setting page is coming, I just gotta finish it up.

  12. no i downloaded the theme and installed it and when i fill out say information for a test user who has the same email, i dont get an error and when i know it will be successful, the page refreshes

  13. have we made any fixes to this issue?

  14. Try to download it once more. I uploaded to my site instead of dropbox this time, should be fixed. I tested on my site and it worked...

  15. Ok heres the update. First I downloaded from http://vietsonnguyen.com/WPMimic.zip <-- there. and second this is what happens:

Note: Registration works fine in the default theme so its no my installation or hosting, I have tested this out.

    I click register:

    Enter the name: kk
    Email: tt@kk

Then his register, I dont get a message saying that your user name and password has been sent to your email.

So I log in as admin and that user is not in the user section

    So then I register again:

    Enter the name: Adam
    Email: My email

I dont get an error for username and I dont get an error for email.

    I switch to default themes:

    The first login Worked
The second gave me an error for both user name and email.

  16. What version of bbPress are u running? This theme isn't tested on any version early than version 1.

Also, if you try to register with the email address tt@kk, it'll tell you that the email address is invalid. Or if you're using an email that already exist in your database then that wont work either...

I tested everything in my site, and everything seems to be just fine.

you can test it out yourself on my site if you want...

  17. This is my site: http://bwshome.web44.net/ Try and sign up and you'll see what I mean. Nothing works. the version is the latest stable version of bbpress what ever that is on the download section of this site.

I dont get the error message you should get with tt@kk.

    trouble shooting?

  18. I registered on your site. Seems to be fine. The only thing I don't get is the password email which I think has to do more with your server than the theme.

I went back and tried to register again and both my username and email address is already in your database...

  19. hmm. Thats odd. Ill remove you from the user base - how ever I am confused as to why the registration doesn't work for me >_<.

  21. @ CNLee123

that made you sound like a spam bot as it was an exsact echo of limited
    with out the link.

I am using the latest stable version of BB press

  22. it works fine for me as well.

  23. This is a great theme, I was using v.02 with small css adaptions and some bugfixes with topic display. Some days ago I upgraded to v.1 and its visually much more better.
But there is one small feature what was in v.02, but is missing in v.1 - when I entered some on going topic, what I have visited before, then page automatically moved me to last unread post where I stopped reading previously.
As I`m not strong in programming, I hope that this feature in previous version was not coming from some plugin... :)
If it was in previous theme version, could you at least give me some hint about function name what to search? I could try to add it to new code myself...

  24. @smiga - I do not believe that was a feature in my theme but more like a feature in bbPress. After I updated bbPress I notice that feature was gone as well.

  25. @limited I liked your WPmimic bbpress theme and would go back if there was a WP theme for it. Basically what I really want is for the blog styling to look just like the forum styling.

  26. @Farlek - There is one and it is done. But I don't think I'll release it until bbpress plugin for WP has a stable release. Its getting very close, so just a few more weeks.

  27. Finaly I managed to fix issue what I reported before - when I entered some on going topic, what I have visited before, then page automatically moved me to last unread post where I stopped reading previously.

    In file
    /bb-templates/WPMimic/post.php

    replace first line
    <div class="post position<?php post_position(); ?>">

    with
    <div id="<?php echo 'post-' . get_post_id(); ?>" class="post position<?php post_position(); ?>">

    Thats it!
You can see how it works on http://forums.kupla.lv/

  28. Do you plan to update this for bbpress 2.0?

  29. Same question here! I want to try upgrade to bbpress 2.0, but will WPMimic V.1 work afterwards? I realy love this theme!

  30. No, this theme jus' work wuth 1.0.x or 1.x now
