WP 2.4

  1. I saw the following post on WP2.4 - coming in Jan.

    http://westi.wordpress.com/2007/12/02/wordpress-weekly-digest-26th-november-to-2nd-december-2007/

It sounds like WP2.4 will use a new hashing scheme to store the password.

Will this interefere with bbPress users who are running WordPress User integration?

  2. They are working on it now. There has been some talk in the dev list about it. Here's the first trac ticket about it:

  3. Thanks... looks like it is a big deal then. No Wp2.4 upgrade until a new bbPress then.

  4. I am sure that people will report back on a TRAC version if nothing else that it will work with, but I would imagine that the WP release will come out followed closely with a bbPress release as that is what happened when the compatibility issues showed up with WP 2.3, but I guess time will tell!

  5. The current trunk contains the new password hashing method. We will do a simultaneous release with WordPress to avoid issues for people with integrated installs.

  6. That is what I thought! Thanks for the update Sam!

  7. And in case anyone wants to keep their passwords hashed in MD5, I've got a plugin that's about to go into the plugin browser that enables that (for bbPress anyway).

  8. You guys are awesome.
