some new users showing up as inactive, others working fine

  1. Are new users created in WP left as inactive (no role) until they sign in? We saw a bunch of users marked as inactive, but plenty of users posting just fine.

When I went into WordPress Integration Settings - User Role Map everything is set as it should be. Clicking 'Save Changes' (without actually making any changes) automatically switched all users marked inactive to member.

We had someone report they were unable to login so I went to check the user's account and that was when I found his inactive role along with dozens of other users.

When trying to replicate it myself with new, test registrations any user I can create that shows up inactive is immediately switched to member on the first log in.

The main reason I ask if because the number of inactive users seemed very high and simply clicking 'Save Changes' and having them all switch in unison seems a bit odd.

  2. This is still going on. There aren't any reports of problems anymore but there are still dozens of accounts showing up as "Inactive (no role)"

Is this just due to people signing up and never logging in? Or do I have an actual problem that may be barring people from participating?

  3. I noticed this situation as well, though I haven't had time to look fully into it - it seemed that a new user when signed up was automatically set to inactive, but upon logging in, or posting, they became active. I'll have to check further when I get the chance to see if this is a 'problem' or just a 'feature'. :)

  4. Good to know its happening to someone else. I really think that's whats happening- a user is marked inactive until following through with a login. Anyone noticing this?

  5. Try:

Go to bb-admin section and click on tools and recount items, see if that helps.

And then try this plugin http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/wpmu-enable-bbpress-capabilities/#post-2086

  6. @gerikg,

Thanks for the link, I downloaded that plugin to give it a go... but apparently it isn't yet compatible with 1.0.2 as it won't activate. Just keeps returning a failed notice. :(

  7. delayedinsanity,

It's not a bbpress plugin, it's a WPMU. It might work for WP.
