Oh Dear!
An invalid configuration file was found at bb-config.php

    My bbpress forum was working just fine for about 1 year - then last week this message came up when i went to to my forum :

    Oh Dear!

    An invalid configuration file was found at bb-config.php
The installation cannot continue.
    Usually this is caused by one of the database connection settings being incorrect.
    Make sure that the specified user has appropriate permission to access the database.

    I did not set this forum up originally - a previous web designer did - who i can't get a hold of -
    now i need to fix this problem and have no idea how to do it.
    I hope some one out there can help me.

    Is it possible the database server is down? I doubt anything else changed. If it's hosted at 1&1 Internet, they have been having DNS issues today.

    not with 1 and 1 - using network solutions.

    You need to look at the database settings in the file and make sure they are valid.

    If you don't know how to do that, ask your web host.

    If they won't help you you need to find another web designer.

    Anyone with WordPress experience will be able to help you as the functionality is virtually the same as WordPress.

    Remember NOT to show the password in that file to anyone you don't trust as they will then have read/write access to your database.

    thanks _ck_ i have found another web designer that i trust who is looking into the situation. fingers crossed that he can make it work... cheers
