No forum after BBP Private Groups plugin update

    @saphadmin

    Hi;
    After updating the BBP private groups plugin this morning, I lost my forum. This is the message on the page:
    Warning: array_merge(): Argument #2 is not an array in /home/xxxx/public_html/xxxx/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/common/functions.php on line 1344

    If I deactivate the plugin, the forum shows up.

    Is there a fix for this? As most here, fairly new to WP & bbPress.
    BTW – excellent tutorials.

    Thank you.

    Thanks, can you revert to version 1.8.1 for the moment

    download 1.8.1 to your PC from

    bbp Private Groups

    then deactivate the current private groups plugin version, then delete it – don’t worry you won’t lose any data ! – and then upload the version from your PC and activate.

    If you haven’t also emailed me, then so far I have two people affected by this, and I’m looking into it.

    No, I didn’t email you. I was hoping there was the old version floating around, just didn’t know where to look.

    Thank you so much!

    @robin-w

    Thanks for that, it lets me know that there are two of you with the issue (so far – there will be more!)

    When does the error occur – as soon as you enter the website, when you enter the forums or some other action?

    Can you also tell me

    What versions of
    Bbpress
    Wordpress

    You are using

    And what theme

    And what plugins.

    @saphadmin

    I have now fixed the issue, and posted the new version to my website

    I have posted the new version in

    bbp Private Groups

    I will post this to the wordpress plugins page in the next few days.

    Robin

    Hello. @robin-w
    I am having this same error.
    Can you please advise?
    Warning: array_merge(): Argument #2 is not an array in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/members/wp-includes/load.php on line 65

    Do I download the plugin you posted in the link? Will that fix the problem?

    Thanks.

    @sasenzon

    This problem does not happen when I deactivate bbpress forum plugin.

    I don’t have the private group plugin.

    @robin-w

    ok, so you don’t have private groups and the error is not the same error as the issue above apart from the first 9 words which are generic 🙂

    sorry this is a totally different issue.

    bbPress is tested with wordpress default themes. It maybe a conflict – you need to check plugins and themes

    It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Plugins

    Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

    If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    Thank you. @robin-w
    I did all of this.
    The only plugin that causes it is bbpress forum.

    suggest you reinstall bbpress, it may have errored on installing

    @sasenzon

    Ok. I installed it as part of the Commons In a Box plugin.
    Should I uninstall the whole thing (it is a suite of Buddy Press plugins).
    If I do will that change what is already set up (database of users etc.)?
    Thank you.

    in which case I go to their support forum, as I’ve no idea what version or combination of versions they are using, and whether their version is the issue

    Hi @robin-w
    I deactivated and deleted CBOX.
    Then I reloaded it.
    It reloaded with the same settings so bbpress forum was initially deactivated.
    I could see the forum that was up before the error started.
    Then I updated and activated the bbpress forum and the error started again.
    All buddypress pages are not visible.
    Other pages on the site (non buddypress are fine).
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    I have posted your comments to their forum.
    I have been awaiting a reply from them for a few days.
    Feeling a bit desperate.

    This is the version they are using as per my reinstall:
    nstalling Plugin bbPress (1/1)

    Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/bbpress.2.5.8.zip…
    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the plugin…
    Plugin installed successfully.

    ok, I’d deactivate it, delete it (you won’t lose any data) and then upload 2.5.9 from the plugins site ie

    dashboard>plugins>install new and search for bbpress.

    then come back

    Ok. I can deactivate it from the CBOX plugin dashboard but I can only delete it if I delete CBOX. Then bbpress shows up on the plugins dashboard of wp.

    @sasenzon

    I deleted both CBOX and bbpress.
    Then I installed bbpress from the plugin page.
    The error is still happening.

    @robin-w

    ok, so with a site that has the twentyfifteen theme and bbpress as the only plugin, this happens?

    sasenzon

    @sasenzon

    it works fine with twentyfifteen theme.

    My theme developer checked the error messages however and said it was a plugin causing this.

    Suggestions?

    @robin-w

    if it works with twentyfifteen and bbpress, but not your theme and bbpress, then it is a conflict between the two and down to your theme.

    do you get any other messages after this one?

    @sasenzon

    Hi. I would have to ask my server tech to run the error test again.
    But it is the same blank screen for all buddypress pages.

    I hope my theme developer can fix this.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

    If you have any other thoughts or people I could consult to look at it I would appreciate it.
    Thanks again.
    Simon
