No admin access.

Hey Folks! I’ve searched for this answer and went through the motions and I’ve still got nothing here.

I have deleted and re-installed several times and still cannot login to admin. I install a fresh install, and try to login to admin with the generated password and nothing. I’ve cleared my cache, tried different browsers, and still can’t login.

I’ve gone through php my admin, changed the password using MD5 and that doesn’t work either. I even tried registering with the same username and email address as admin and it doesn’t even tell me that the user exists.

The password reset also doesn’t work, I never get the email.

Does anybody have any ideas here?

    Thanks,

    Nick

  • maybe just uninstall and delete the folders and database in filezilla and starting all over again

Deleted some spam and this post got buried and maybe ignored inadvertently

What happened the very first time you tried to log in with the generated password? Were you integrated with WordPress?

I’m having a similar problem. I’ve turned off all rewriting that I could find to no avail. This happens to me as well the very first time I log in after setting things up, no changes to admin or anything.

My install is two folders down /tomek/forums.

Interestingly, I tried in another browser, going to /bb-admin/index.php manually. This redirected me to the login page as expected. I logged in, and bbPress forwards me to /tomek/forums/tomek/forums/bb-admin/index.php. This, obviously doesn’t exist, and would seem to indicate a trailing or starting slash is missing somewhere, but it can’t be a redirect problem — I’ve turned all those off.

Any idea where to start looking?

    Thanks,

    Tomek

Just to add, I can see in firebug that clicking on the “Admin” sends a get request to the correct url, but the content length returned is 0 and the header returned is 302 (url found) not something like 200.

    Kinda odd, I would think.

Ok, after reinstalling manually (I was using softaculous before), manual integration with wp, reinstallling again without integration, etc., still nothing works.

I’ve also tried installing in a folder that doesn’t have a wordpress install, just to see. Still the same. Every time, without fail, it tries to find a path such as, if installed in “forums”, it finds “forums/forums”. If installed in “sub/forums”, it finds “sub/forums/sub/forums”.

Where is the issue? I’m getting a little bit frustrated with ‘fresh-out-of-the-box’ software not working!? I appreciate open-source software, and would love to solve this bug for others as well, but I need help finding it first!

For example, are there any debugging options to a log I can turn on? My cPanel error logs etc. don’t show anything out of the ordinary.

Finally realized to check something. When going through http://, everything works. When going through https://, nothing works. I can reproduce this simply by changing the bb_meta table entry “URI” between “https://” and “http://”.

That’s a problem! Is there a place to file a bug?

To file a bug, go to http://trac.bbpress.org and log in with a wordpress.org login.

Also, you never mentioned https/SSL before. Maybe looking through these posts will help:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/tags/https

    https://bbpress.org/forums/tags/ssl

@chrishajer yep, I honestly didn’t think it would be a problem. Guess I learned my lesson :)! Thanks for those links, that’s much easier than searching.

I’ll look to see if a similar bug has been filed first.

I’m still having a problem accessing the forum admin. I can log into my WP admin just fine, but when trying to access the forum admin it just redirects to the forum again. It won’t let me get into the settings
