Make a user a moderator

  • Hi

I have a wordpress based site with buddypress and BBpress. I use S2member for user management.

I have been unable to find a way to make a user a forum moderator.

    Any help please?

You simply go into your admin dashboard, under “Users” and then find this user. There you will find an option drop down for “Roles”. In there you will select “Forum Moderator” as the role.

If it is true that you are using S2 to control levels, you will need to modify the S2 level for this or other moderators to add the capability of “Moderate Forums”.

In other words, you are going to add the same role capability to the S2 Level Role (1, 2, 3, 4, whichever…) that one would have if you were using the default “Forum Moderator” role.

This is because you can only use one role at a time.

    Hope this helps 😉

    Cheers!

    Hi thanks for your answer

Yet i think this should work differently – what makes sense is that one is able to assign a user to be a moderator of a particualr forum. Not make a user a forum moderator for all forums and which limits other website functionalities.

Are there any plans to improve this?

There are plans to improve bbPress’s moderation features.

You can see whats planned thus far, contribute more ideas or even code here:

Wow, I wish I had known this earlier or I would not have installed bbpress.

I have three s2member roles ‘UK Member, UK Student, International Member’, which means I would have to make everyone in one of those groups a moderator 🙁

    Back to the drawing board…
