Is WordPress a requirement for BBPress to work?

  1. I like the forum function of wordpress, but am not interested in blogs from wordpress. Do I have to install wordpress in order for bbpress to work?

  2. No. The only version that is publicly available for download (using the red tab in the upper right hand corner) is a standalone version of bbPress that does not require WordPress to work.

The version that is currently in development is a plugin for WordPress, which will require WordPress first.

  3. Thanks! I tried downloading that version first and couldn't get it to work, so I downloaded wordpress (which ironically works fine) but can't get bbpress to function. I guess I'll start from scratch and try again.

  4. I'm still getting error messages with bb standalone. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong... http://www.pharmacistcareeroptions.com/forum

  5. When uploading into /forum on your server, don't load the bbpress-1.0.2/ directory... upload the contents of that directory (you'll see the directories bb-admin, bb-cache, bb-images, etc... plus bb-config.php, bb-edit.php, etc).

    Then point your browser to:

  6. Thanks! Before I point my browser to the above location, am I suppose to change the bb-config-sample.php to bb-config.php??

  7. Still getting an error message...

  8. Yes, change bb-config.php. You'll need to edit the setting in that file first.

  9. Can that be done in Firezilla?

  10. So frustrated!
