IRC meeting February 14th

  1. Everyone is invited to the bbpress IRC gathering on

    February 14th 2010 @ 7 PM EST
    irc.freenode.net
    #bbpress

If your not familiar with IRC, the easiest way to join the chat is to visit this link and pick a user name
    http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=bbpress

    Some Topics Of Discussion:
    Project Manager Appointment
    Ground work for Project Roadmap
Release of 1.2 and future bug hunts

  2. Bob,

As much as you may think this is me being difficult, can i strongly suggest that having an impromtu IRC chat with less than 2 days notice, on VALENTINE'S DAY, at (minimum of) 1am in Europe or 6am in India is... i'm trying hard to phrase this nicely... wishful.

As much as we all want the best for bbPress, rushing these things is never productive. Heck, not everyone you'd want involved checks the forums every 2 days!

    Kev

  3. Can I please know that if the timezone I selected here is correct - http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converted.html?day=14&month=2&year=2010&hour=19&min=0&sec=0&p1=47&p2=176
It shows 2 time zones (1 for winter and 1 for summer)

If it is (correct), then I'll surely attend the meetup.

  4. @kevinjohngallagher
Thanks for your opinion, though i disagree. They only thing we are rushing "in this circumstance" is community discussion. And i wouldn't call it rushing, there is more than 24 hours notice, with prior notifications and messages sent to users that showed interest. But in the future I will post in advance. Will you be attending?

    @Gautam
    World time conversion
    http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=2&day=14&year=2010&hour=19&min=0&sec=0&p1=207

    Does this help any?

  5. @bobtheman
It says Time is fixed on Saturday, 13 February 2010, 17:42:51 UTC time, but I don't thing that's the case. Ok, just tell me how many hours is that timezone (EST) ahead/behind of GMT.

  6. EST is 5 hours behind of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) tell me where you are approximately located on this world clock,
    http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

    and we can compare times

  7. Oh.. bad timing (for me).. exactly opposite my location - http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=176

Can't the meetup be held near 1000 to 2300 IST time (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=14&month=2&year=2010&hour=10&min=00&sec=0&p1=176)

  8. Apologies Bob,

I can't make it (valentine's day - not a big deal to me, a big deal to the better half).
Hope it goes well, and i'll read the transcripts on Tuesday.

    Have a great weekend folks.

  9. @kevinjohngallagher
thanks, you have a great weekend also. hopefully you can attend next time :)

  10. How did it go?

  11. 7:00 - 7:30 EST - silence, no-one arrived.

7:30 - 8:00 EST - chit-chat about the positives of Chrome as a browser, and a couple of bbPress topic/post admin related feature requests.

    Basically, extremely quiet.

  12. Yeah, have to say, kinda unhappy. I risked vengance and homelessness from the better half to get up and stay up til 4am.

  13. You must log in to post.
