I am getting bots commenting on my topics, but the comment box is not visible. This topic was just commented on by a bot.

Pingbacks & Trackbacks are disabled.
Users must be registered and logged in to comment is enabled.

Any idea why this is happening and how I can stop it?

I can’t tell from your link what the issue is – do you mean commented as with a post, or they have created a forum reply and if so which one?

They are not replies, they are showing up awaiting moderation in my comment section of the dashboard.

If you have askimet installed, then this will trap these.

Well you are probably right, but that’s a band-aid, not a fix to something that should not be happening. There is no comment field on the pages/topics that these comments are being left on. I have disabled comments by non-logged in visitors, I have also ran a SQL query to disable pings and trackbacks on all existing pages & post, yet I am still getting comments on topics.

Installing yet another plugin is not how I want to fix this. I would rather disable the ability for bots to find and use any comment features on these topics period.

Indeed pingbacks and trackbacks should not be enabled, I’ve just created a ticket to have a look at this, #2677.
