On wordpress version 3.5 and bbPress 2.2.3 is there a way to tweak the permalinks on bbPress so they look like

    when viewing forum: /forum/”forum name”/

    when viewing a topic: /forum/”forum name”/”topic name”/

Actually to be more specific I mean:

    /forum/”forum-slug”/

    when viewing a topic: /forum/”forum-slug”/”topic-slug”/

The settings can be changed inside the settings > forums area. Have a look and see if they help.

I see how to change the slug text but not the structure.

This is what I posted in the WordPress forum, maybe this will be more clear.

I want the forum and topics to have the tree structure in the permalinks. Is there a way to get the bbPress permalink structure to look like this:

    When viewing a forum:

    Instead of: /forums/forum/forum-slug/

I want it to be: /forum/forum-slug/

    When viewing a topic:

    /forums/topic/topic-slug/

    /forum/forum-slug/topic-slug/

I looked into this in the past and having read a number of existing threads on the topic it looks like there is no way to change this.

For aesthetic reasons I chose to change from the default as “/forum/forums/” doesn’t look great so you can change it to “/bb/forums” or “/forum/discuss/” or whatever. Not ideal but trying to hack this to work could leave you in a whole world of pain (prob tricky to get right, and may break with future releases).

Did you end up finding a solution to this? I’m trying to do the exact same thing.

I have found a few threads from 4 or 5 years ago, and supposedly someone wrote a plugin for an old version of bbpress that can do this. But BBpress has gone through some serious changes (for the best) and now operates as a plugin for wordpress not a stand alone platform – so they no longer work.

Does anyone know of a plugin/rewrite rules/functions.php code we can use to make this a reality?

I want the same structure for my forums

    http://domain.com/forums/forum-slug/topic-slug/

I don’t want it to look like this

    http://domain.com/forums/topic/topic-slug/

Neither I want it to look like this

    http:/domain.com/forums/forum/forum-slug/

This is so redundant. Shouldn’t it look like this? http:/domain.com/forums/forum-slug/

    Can someone help here please?
