Have installed bbPress. Have created forums. My forums are shown on my link but not http://mywebsite.co.uk/forums, instead it’s http://mywebsite.co.uk/post_type=forum

I did some digging around…apparently I’m to change my permalinks…but when I change them my forum disappears and I get an error -

Not Found

The requested URL /forums/forum/general-discussion/ was not found on this server.

Not sure why it’s got forums/forum??

Anyway…I’ve been trying in vain to add a forum “tab” on my home page, so that people can click the forum tab to take them to the forum home page.

I tried adding a Menu…but it says that the theme only supports one menu. (I have Home) So I did a custom link, dragged it over to the home menu…but nothing changes on my home page.

I’ve seen another saying to create a page and use a bbPress template in the drop down to link the page to the forum…except I don’t have any bbPress templates in the drop down, only “default template”, £ront page template” and “full width page template, no side bar”.

All I’m trying to do is add a forum tab to my home page…so it reads “Home…Forum” etc… Is this not doable?

I haven’t found an option to shift certain forums on bbPress up or down on the page. I’ve searched on the internet but the only results that come up are ones to do with exporting and importing forums or moving topics to different forums. I’ve made an Introduce Yourself forum on my site’s forum but it’s all the way at the bottom and I want new users to notice it but I couldn’t find a way to move it to the top of the page. Is this possible, and if so, how?

I am instructed to set the forum attribute type to Category not Forum. OK, done that, works.

But… I have read through the bbPress documentation about nesting forums which makes some mention of categories, but it is not clear to me how categories are or what the use case is.

The only place in-the-wild I have seen nested forums is on the hungarian site someone announced about 5 days ago.

Maybe I have seen categories somewhere, but I wouldn’t necessarily know.

Can anyone elaborate?

Well after hours of bug finding I’m down to one problem, which is that BBpress doesn’t refresh when you make a post. The problem seems to be related to caching, cause when I disable caching in Chrome it works. No matter what I do I however just can’t seem to figure our how to make my browsers (firefox + Chrome) not cache the page in the first time.

I can access the forum menus from the dashboard, and I’ve created a few forums. If I click “view” in the list of forums from the dashboard, I can see them.

However, when I go to see my web page, there is no option on the navigation menu for the forums. There is just “Home”, “Blog”, and one other page I already created.

How is one visiting the site supposed to find the forums?

I tried Simple Press briefly and it just created it’s own page and a menu link. I also tried Mingle, and for that I needed to create a page on the navigation menu for it before I did the install. What do I need to do for bbpress?

How can I create a forum that would be the main forum and have other forums be like sub-forums. I have tried using the parent forum feature but it does not do quite what I am looking for. For example, I would want it to look like this.

Google
-Android
-Google Plus
-Chrome

Also, is it possible to create a title for a list of forums. For example,

Main Forums
Forum Title 1
Forum Title 2
Forum Title 3

Other Forums
Forum Title 4
Forum Title 5

Lastly, is it possible to change the required fields that are necessary for forum registration. (I am using the short code for registration)
