I'm positive I'm putting the same string in that I see when I login to <a href="http://wordpress.com/profile/" rel="nofollow">http://wordpress.com/profile/</a><br /> When I check my wordpress blog, running on a different host and different domain from bbpress, the same key is there and wp reports the akismet plugin is working. </p> <p>Another post from 6 months ago said replacing single quotes with double quotes in config.php fixed the problem for them.
