As long as WordPress was installed first and you were using wordpress tables for users, you should be fine.

I'm not sure why you don't just roll back to 2.5.1 though.

Good day all,

I realize that this sounds like an unusual question, but are there any special instructions for properly removing integration between Wordpress and bbPress?

I just upgraded to Wordpress 2.6, which broke cookie sync with bbPress leaving me with a semi-crippled integration. When I was using Wordpress 2.5.1 the login integration worked like a charm thanks to bbPress 0.9.0.2's easier integration with Wordpress. However, I have other reasons for wanting to remove bbPress for the time being.

Here is what my approach would be like:
0. Backup my entire web space (<100MB) and databases (<2MB).
1. Disable all bbPress plugins.
2. Delete the bbPress installation (resides in /forum on my web space).
3. Manually remove the bb_ tables from the shared Wordpress-bbPress database.

I am worried about #3 and if it is safe to do. What are your recommendations? Thanks for your help!

it usually goes as follows:-

`blahblah.com/forum/bb-templates/kakumei/login-form.php

note: - "kakumei is the theme name, you could try replacing it with the title of your theme your using"

find this snippet of code:-

<?php printf(__('<a href="%1$s">Register</a> or log in'), bb_get_option('uri').'register.php') ?&gt

and replace it with

<?//php printf(__('<a href="%1$s">Register</a> or log in'), bb_get_option('uri').'register.php') ?>

all you doing here is blocking out this code by putting the blocks "//" which means the code (link) to the registration page is will no longer be there.

Good luck

sway
http://www.swaymedia.com

I'm not terribly good with code, I was hoping there was a plugin or option I could use rather than editing each page because I'm sure I'll mess something up! But if that's how it must be, that's how it must be...

Hello,

I have a new installation of bb press integrated with my main wordpress site. For a whole bunch of reasons I want to edit the bb press installation so that there's no way to register for the board through the board itself; I only want people to be able to register through the main wordpress site. Is there any way to block registration through the board, or just remove each element of it manually? I'm using the theme "Scoun" if it makes any difference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Got it : you have to add a snippet of code to replace the topic tag function within the stickies area on the front page.

I think it is. The only issue is if you had an integrated install, then you would have bbPress users in your wp_users and wp_usermeta table. You would probably have to manually remove those entries from those tables. Don't drop the wp_ tables, just the bb_tables.

I think that's about it. Once the code is gone from the filesystem, the database doesn't matter much except for keeping things tidy.

Hi,

I wish to uninstall bbPress from my WP 2.5 installation and was wondering if it were as simple as:

- Deleting the forum sub-folder from my /blog/forum folder
- Dropping the bb tables from the shared database

Thanks,

Yes it is possible.
If you havent done it already, create a folder at the root of your bbpress install called my-templates, copy front-page.php from bb-templates into my-templates. Edit front-page.php in my-templates, go to around line 44 and you will find the "Sticky" text, change it there.

Is it possible for a forum administrator to change or remove the label "Sticky?"

I run a support forum used by a broad range of folks, and the term "sticky" is sometimes being interpreted as "tricky" or "difficult."

(Also, for clarification, I don't wish to "unstickify" the topic; I just don't want the text "Sticky" to appear in the topic's title.)
