It seems to be an issue with the mouseover. This is definetely a Google Chrome problem, and this is definetely only a problem on the post edit page.

this problem seems to only be occuring in google Chrome. But not in IE 8.

Is this the first time IE WORKED, and Chrome didn't? Oh my god.

And this is definetely only occuring on the 'edit-post' page, and I have tried messing with the code of the edit-form.php and troubleshooting it, and making it identical to the post-form.php in practically every way, and the problem still happens.

an update.

i notice mouseovering over the textbox area or even anything specified between the <label> tags (which has the textbox and the quicktags bar, the B button highlights.

I have a bizarre problem.

Sometimes, when editing a post, I will click in the post text box, and it will automatically throw in a tag, and the B button will change to /B.

The thing is, I didn't click B, I clicked the textbox!

what the hell is going on?

I'm puzzled again :s

Quicktacks are working ok in post-form.php but not in edit-form.php. The only tag that works in edit-form.php is the "link" tag.

I'm not using any plugin, I'm calling the script to the header and then I place it next to the form textarea.

Why is not working in edit-form.php?

There is no rich text editor right now. There are quicktags.

There are several versions of a quicktags plugin for bbPress: not sure which one is best or still works.

For images, if people can host it somewhere, you want the Allow Images plugin.

If you want to allow people to upload attachments (including images) you want the bbPress Attachments plugin.

If you read the instructions for the bbPress Attachments plugin, you will see how they can attach an image first, then embed that image in their post.

Does bbPress have a rich text editor or an post entry where the user is able to embed a photo or graphic to their forum post? I'm looking for something where ideally, the user would be able to browse and pick out the photo from a file on their local disk, and up it goes to the post without needing to upload the photo in some photo share first.

I'm using Comment Quicktags + plugin by Dan Cameron, and I've got it working pretty well. Except for Edit.

When you edit a post and land on edit.php, the tag buttons simply don't appear.

The js path does appear in the source.

Any thoughts?

I'm no JSkiddie but that looks like you only define the new edButton when someone pushes an old one. Is that right? Can you look for where the core buttons are defined and just add it to them? This quicktag principle isn't new and I'm positive I saw a guide to adding buttons to quicktags (in wp, but the principle should be the same) - so there should be some documentation out there.

I added that (and allowed strikethru functionality via another plugin) but the strike button does not show. Any ideas?

Thanks for your response chrishajer. You made me realize I had put the quicktags-4-bbpress folder in /my-plugins/ instead of putting the files themselves in /my-plugins/. (Although in my defense, I was just following the instructions of the readme included with the plugin). Just moving them directly to /my-plugins/ didn't fix anything.

Since BBpress plugin DB seems to be down I decided to download the plugin from 40annibuttati.it and uploading those files fixed my problem. So maybe bbpress DB has a different (wrong?) file? Anyway, this is what worked for me:

But that file cannot be found. So, where is that js_quicktags.js file?

Looks like you added the proper code to your template. Did you activate the plugin in your admin panel? Or is it in a different location?

Finally i solved the little problem that plugin had and it's now available for download. This lugin will add a quickyags tollbar to every textarea for insertin/editing posts.

It support the IMG tag too that need the specific plugin to support inclusion for external images.

O my. Hope you are all right!
I was going to start writting the plugin myself but I quickly found that it was a lot more complex then I thought it would be at first. This is going to be a big help to me and I thank you for your work.

You right... 3 days ago i tested it and waswworking then i was not home and i think i uploaded the working version.. but looks like i had put a wrong one. Tomorrow if i will be able i will try to check it... sorry for the problem.

err, change that.

It installs great, and the buttons click. But thats it. It isnt updating the code, inserting images, links, etc. On images and links it does bring up the window to enter the address / location but nothing is inserted into the post.
I checked the header and the javascript is loaded, and in the correct location.
anythoughts.

I adapted the
WordPress plugin Comment Quicktags + by Dan Cameron so you can add a quicktags toolbar over textarea for inserting or editing posts in the various bbPress pages.

Te plugin already support the IMG tag to include images inside a topic. To make this tag works you need to install another plugin to support the img tag.
