If you follow the password reset link you get emailed and then try to log in from that page you'll get the key not found error. In my installation, emails appear to come from <a href="mailto:bbpress@domain.com">bbpress@domain.com</a> - but that email doesn't exist, so any mail that fails to get delivered is just gone forever.
