Thanks!

As the code stands at the moment, it is a little too easy to lock yourself out. There may be a cleaner solution, but the following worked for me:

Try to login to BBPress with the WP admin. If that fails to give admin access to BBPress, the user mappings were either not set, were set at the wrong stage during integration, or were set such that nothing mapped to the Keymaster.

Backup the database (just in case a bad situation accidentally becomes terminal while you're trying to fix it).

Using SQL access to the database (eg PhpMyAdmin), open up bb_topicmeta and delete the last few lines with meta_key starting
wp_
. That should reset everything, allowing you to get back into BBPress on the old Keymaster account and start again.

I found the order in which the integration settings were applied was critical. Your mileage may vary, but for me that was:

Edit User role map (ensure Admin is linked to Keymaster), and save.

Add "wp_" under User database table prefix and save.

Hit the User role map button again.

Finally complete the cookie setting and save.

Hello,

I integrated bbPress with WordPress, soooooo, now bbPress is using WordPress database... that means I have no Key Master nor Administrator for bbPress,

How can I manually convert my WordPress' admin to a bbPress' Key Master?

So I can change bbPress settings and stuff.

Please help, thanks!

I noticed this bug as well (0.8.3) and came across another one (see below).
The whole password workflow seems a bit clunky and confusing. There is no link for a password reminder or reset, and the only way to get to the reset function is to attempt a login. Many users who have forgotten their password may not try to log in, and will look for a "password reminder" or reset function instead. They may not work out that they have to click log-in anyway to get to the reset!
On my current install, if I initiate a password reset with an empty user id field, the system simply exits and displays a blank page. It would be better to trap this and indicate to the user that they must enter a user name to execute the reset process.

I could have sworn there was a trac ticket for this (whitelisting admin or keymaster, or trusted users), but I can't find it now. I did find this relevant post in the forum:

Uh, thanks...but, on my second post above I stated my idiocy in realizing that is was in fact, an Akismet spam issue.

What makes you sure it's not a bozo issue? Sounds exactly like one to me. If it is, the fix is here.
If you've got good reason to think it's not a bozo issue, sorry. :x

Oh crap! Me feel silly...

Soon after posting this I realized that Akismet was holding them as spam...what the heck?! Shouldn't an admin at least be considered a non-spammer?
I'm sure i'll find the answer somewhere but feel free to post any further comments.
Thanks.

Sorry if this has been dealt with, but I've searched the forums for this and haven't found anything. I'm pretty sure this is not a bozo issue.

Using bbPress 0.8.1 with Wordpress 2.1
Just installed not long ago and am testing now...

I am able to add forums with no problem.
But, when I add a new post to a given forum, it appears to save (it does in fact, as I checked the db table). However, it doesn't show up in the forum post counts on the front page, and unless I navigate back to the form where I added the post, I lose it completely.

I've tried subscribing to a new post that I just saved, and I get the message "Something strange happened, please try refreshing". I do refresh, and the message goes away, but nothing else happens, and the post is still lost in limbo.

Any tags attached to the post do show up correctly --it's just the post itself that is gone.

Thanks for any help!
Tim

When a user clicks on "Recover lost password," they are sent an email containing a link to reset their password. When they click on the link they receive a message that says their password has been reset. So far so good. When the user tries to logon with the new password though they get bbPress error message that says "Key not found." However, their password has in fact been reset and all is good.

The same error occurs on this board as well. Is this a bug? and does anyone know of a workaround?
