Cheers for the fix.
However, I managed to reproduce this exact error on my bbpress forum (version 0.9.0.2 with the suggested changeset 556). But strangely, only on my work pc (firefox 3 and IE7). From my home pc and on localhost the login redirects fine.
Just thought I'd point out that it still may be a potential problem.

I am resurrecting this, since I saw a couple threads talking about it that - while marked as resolved - didn't actually resolve the problem!

The bbPress login form does NOT work with IE6. Not even on this forum.

More specifically -- you cannot enter text into the form; only submit the (empty) input values. Before I go ahead and completely rewrite this bit of code, is there a known fix?

Hi I've got these two problems which may be related.

Login problem

I believe I followed the instructions for integrating my blog and bbpress correctly.

However if I log into my blog (which is here) I am not also logged into bbpress (which is here). If I then log into bbpress, I am logged into both.

How can I make it so that when someone logs into either they are logged into both?

Editing profiles

None of my bbpress users can edit their profiles, including me. If they change anything on their profile page and click Update Profile, nothing happens

Can anyone help me with these two problems? Are they related?

Hi everybody :)

I'm finally going to do a proper BBPress forum, and integrating it with one of my sites (http://www.retrogarden.co.uk/). The forum is here (http://www.retrogarden.co.uk/forum/)

I have two small questions though:

1. How do I edit the look of the login form? At the moment it can be construed as confusing as the width of the column makes it look terrible.

2. On a topic page (http://retrogarden.co.uk/forum/topic/your-first-topic), how do I edit the look of this page? Which template is it in? I want to remove the border around the gravatar, and expand the size of the post content at the expense of the post author information

Not sure which versions you're running, but cookies are compatible in bbPress 0.9.0.2 and WordPress 2.5.1. They changed the cookie hash method. If the changeset is equivalent to 2.5.1 (my /tags/2.5.1 WordPress installation is changeset 7835) then the cookies should work, so long as you're using bbPress 0.9.0.2.

I figured it was just browser functionality, not based on the software.

I wonder what header the other software sent, (if that's what did it) and then if you could just send the same header in bbPress to cause the same behavior in the browser?

I think this is user behavior. I would never expect a prior page to reload with new information after just going back with the browser back button. I mean, I want to go back where I came from, old information just as it was. If you want fresh information, refresh the page (IE F5 or FF CTRL SHIFT R) or use the links in the forum to navigate to the front page again rather than using the browser back button.

My users are having some complaints about this. When they press the back button while being logged in (for example, after reading a topic), the front page is not reloaded, so they can't see new comments. I don't know why this happens, since the nocache headers are being sent by the nocache_headers function.

Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Ok I switched the theme back to standard, but still have the problem. None of the extra javascript is being loaded with this theme either, so it rules that out.

My bbpress is installed in my wordpress folder (in 'forum' subdirectory), but I haven't configured anything in bbpress admin - settings - wordpress integration... I didn't think it was necessary as wordpress only needs one admin user. Could this be the problem?

I should add that my bbpress config.php is using require_once to call in wp-blog-header.php. This lets bbpress load the wordpress functions so I can use the wordpress header/footer in my theme. Perhaps this is causing a conflicting cookie or something?

It just seems weird that bbpress lets me login as admin no problem?!

Do you have any plugins installed? If so, try disabling them and see if users can log in.

You're running a modified template. If so, try the default template, unmodified, and see if the problem goes away.

Do you have access to server logs? If so, look for 500 errors being logged or php errors.

UPDATE: I just created a user and I see what's happening. Not a blank screen, they're just redirected to the login screen to log in again. Try a stock template and try disabling plugins.

Also, there's a lot of javascript on that page. Does disabling those scripts affect anything?

bbPress is installed with Wordpress, but not integrated - visitors never need to login to Worpress site, so don't think integration is necessary.

I can login as user ID1 - admin - no problem at all so I don't think this is a cookie thing..? Have tried clearing cookies/temp files just in case.

New users are being created in the database, and password is being emailed. When I try to login as user, it just returns the blank login form. When I try to login as a non-existent user, I get the correct 'no such user' message.

I can see all new users in admin screen, all with usertype 'member', so that's fine.

require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-settings.php');

.
If you add any code after that line it won't be applied.

I am new to bbPress. I was pulling my hair out all day trying to get integration with WordPress to work. The problem was the cookies not matching.

I had inserted the lines bbPress gave me to set COOKIE_DOMAIN and COOKIEPATH in my wp-config.php file at the very bottom. Examining my cookies I saw that the domain was not adjusting to the value I wanted. I thought my problems were elsewhere and spent hours barking up the wrong tree.

The solution is to insert the necessary lines higher up. When I put them just under the standard define lines (just under define('DB_COLLATE', '') ) the correct domain was then set properly in the cookie.

I hope this helps others.

Are there other fixes besides pluggable.php in 0.9.0.1? If so, is the upgrade procedure for 0.9.0.1 the same as 0.9?
