Thanks you, that worked. But I've got one question about it: Why does it say front-page two times? I edited the upper one, and that worked, so where's the second for?

Hello,

I like the Latest Discussions on the frontpage, to have a quick look of the active topics, but I'd like to limit it to max. 5 topics.
Is there a way to do this? I tried several plugins found on the internet/this website, but none of them works.
Is there a way by changing the code? If yes, in which file should I look?
Btw, what is the default amount of 'Latest Discussions' on the frontpage?

Thanks.

Hello,

I was looking for a way to limit moderators in some way to only have moderation powers on specific forum/s. I have a forums where I need to have a set of moderators have access to only moderate a few forums and not every forum on the site. I did some searching and couldn't find anything in the forums or plug ins that did this task. Is this something that could be handled by being able to add more roles, and then custom define the abilities of those roles? Thanks for your time, I look forward to hearing back from the community on this. :)

Ahhh that auto worked a treat ;-) I've used the break-word as well for IE so it doesn't even need to scroll when words are too long, in FF it just scrolls. Although a plugin to shorten long url's words etc might be quite cool, like:
http://www.ilovebbpress.com/bla/blab/blalblba/indexnop/123

If I get time next week I might make one... but don't quote me on that :-P

.post { overflow: auto; }

which isn't actually the automatic setting - but it's the one that automatically adds a scrollbar if the post is too wide. Like multiline code here, it'll add the scrollbar only if needed. Also handy for images.

And lol at everyone suggesting something else. :P

It sounds like you're looking for something like the proprietary word-wrap CSS property which works in IE browsers only, as far as I know.

Hey Guys,

We're currently having some problems with longish words flowing out of the design, all normal words get text wrapped when they reach the end however long url's or lines don't, any ideas how to resolve?

	<td class="num"><small><?php topic_time(); ?></small></td>
</tr>

Around it put

<?php if( $topic->forum_id != 666 ) { ?>
... [[that code block]] ...
<?php } ?>

You will probably want to change
666
to whatever forum id you actually want to exclude. You can put any conditional logic you like inside those if( ... ) brackets, so for example to filter for two forums you would put
if( $topic->forum_id != 666 && $topic->forum_id != 999 )
. Hope that helps.

I would like to limit the forums being included in the latest discussions section. More accurately, I wish to specifically exclude a forum. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this in the template?

This plugin is another simple one. It allows you to set an inactivity limit on threads shown on the forum main page. The default is set to 7 days, and if you like that setting, then all you have to do is put the file in your my-plugins directory. If you want to change it, it's easy enough (desciption in the readme).

You can download the file and read the instructions at http://faq.rayd.org/bbpress_limit_recent_activity/

You can see it being used at http://www.rayd.org/forums/ (notice how there are no threads in the "Latest Discussion" section whose last post is older than a week).

Enjoy!

Have you tried temporarily putting the limit up to 99999 minutes?

Thanks for replying,

If a member request reset time limit to re-edit a specific posting, is it possible to configure within bbPress Admin?
