Depends on what version you installed. This is from the alpha versions:
http://chrishajer.com/bbpress/admin-dashboard.png

It sounds like when you log in, you're not a keymaster, so you're not seeing the keymaster (admin) functions.

Warren - Thank you for bumping multiple posts.

What version of WP and BB are you using? There is a plugin for WP that should 'fix' this for you on WP 2.7 and BB 1.0-alpha-5

Again, look at when this was posted. 4 months ago. How long is it going to take bbpress to get the user roles intregated? I would suggest somebody write a plugin or better yet, update the core to match the same user roles in wordpress 2.7 or bbpress is going to lose alot of users.

Even if you have integration set up perfectly, if you login from WordPress you will not get the correct cookies set to be able to access the bbPress admin area.

Also, if you are doing what johnjamesjacoby describes above you will get a similar problem as the bbPress roles will get squashed by Wordpress.

There is a fix for both of these problems available, but it is only tested with WordPress 2.7

My guess is you've integrated your BBP install inside your WP using the config.php inclusion. That will cause that exact problem.

I know, but I consider that to be a small issue. I have now integration on the user account level (cookies) and I can access the admin panel on both. I can log in on one and I am automatically logged in on both but I just have to log out of both separately to be really logged off.

Full integration messes up my bbpress completely, so I left that out. I am satisfied (for now) with what I've got working. I hope that integration will be working better when we get official releases on both.

@mvds: The idea is that logging into or out of either/or will do that action on both sides for a unified website function. If you log into or out of either, and it affects the other immediately, and you have admin access to both sides regardless of where you login, that's a good thing. :)

I got it working, I will describe what I did for other users:

First I deleted the bb_meta table from my DB, and also the bb_config.php file. After this I could re-install bbpress fine, including steps 2 and 3. I followed the steps from http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/integrate-wp27-and-bbp10a2 but I left out the include part for the wp file. I also did the cookie settings for both wp and bb.

Now I can use bb and wp just fine. One minor issue, I cannot log out from bb without also logging out from wp.

I also have this problem, but I do have a lead... What I did is the following:

Install WP 2.7 (latest build)
Install BBPress 1 Alpha 2 but it skipped steps 2 and 3, went straight to the forum index
Did all the settings manually like described in http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/integrate-wp27-and-bbp10a2
Go into WP, log in with admin account
Go to BBPress

At the top I see "Welcome, admin! | Admin | Log Out"

So far so good, but when I click on "Admin" to access my admin page, nothing happens. So thats exactly the same as the others, but when I press the "Log Out" and then try to log back in with the admin account, I get a "User does not exist" message. So I guess its not reading my WP tables correctly.

Note: My database is fully up-to-date, BBPres states that there is nothing to upgrade when I go to /bb-admin/upgrade.php

I'm sorry, what are you seeing in the admin and what do you expect to see?

My experience is that in the admin, you will only see moderated topics (usually deleted ones.) That's why there are tables and submenus. It's much simpler than that though when you need to edit or moderate a reply or topic. You can do it while viewing the topic while logged in as keymaster. What are you unable to do?

You don't manage topics or posts from the admin. When logged in as administrator (keymaster) you just edit the topic at the bottom of the page, or individual replies are editable with the "edit" link beneath the reply.

Look there, not at the admin. The only thing that will show up in the admin are moderated replies or topics, things you've deleted usually.

Yes, sometimes the full path is required rather than a relative path. At least you have resolved that problem. The other problem I do not know about. Can you have a look at the database for the bb_usermeta (or wp_usermeta if you're integrated) and see that the value is for the admin/keymaster user?

Chrishajer: Thanks for helping out. I have tried clearing the cache and I've tried both IE7 and FF3, doesnt change anything.

Regarding the path, line 41 says:

require_once('../wp-blog-header.php');

I have tried using this instead:

require_once('/var/www/www.zulan.se/wp-blog-header.php');

And then the error goes away, but as soon as I press the "Admin" link next to my login name and Log Out it just takes me back to the first bbpress page located at http://www.zulan.se/bbpress/
