Yes, I found that in the sign options I've chosen something wrong :P my bad...

But still... if someone dont have a sig, and post something like, one or two lines of text, the error appear...

Lets just hope the members have much to talk, or at least, use the sign for something :P

Thanks :)

Thanks for the quick answer ;)

And yes... with a large amount of text, works just fine...

The forum can be found in here:
http://www.redcarpe.coresp.com/interpol/forum/

But its normal the signature dont appear? Because I thought: if the text isnt enough, the signature of the members could be the solution to this problem, since it adds more space to the post. But the signatures dont appear in every post, only in the first time the user reply in the thread... I use bbPress Signatures.

I think it's related to the amount of text in the reply. When you have a lot of text, it looks fine. Small amount of text, the avatar messes things up.

Can you make new posts with lots of text in them and see if they look OK? You need to compare the same amount of content before and after the CSS changes.

Also, post your URL so people might have a chance at finding the problem for you.

Hi everyone

So, I was modding the Kakumei theme for bbpress and everything was going just fine, but then, something I changed made this happen: ERROR IMAGE

It was supposed to be like this: CORRECT

The thing is... I wasnt changing nothing relative to the threads in the CSS, and that happened... or at least, I think I wasnt.

Somethings I changed I've put them back like they were, but, somehow, nothing changed...

Can someone help me?

Thank you

Edit:

Oh, one more thing, the older posts in the threads didnt changed, just the new ones I've made...

Essentially it's a mash-up between the bbPress support forum theme here and Kakumei, with a few tweaks.

Requires the Topic Views plugin to be installed.

It's older work and not as pretty as "FutureKind" (I won't be releasing that one this year) and you can forget about "validation" unless you want to work on it quite a bit yourself, but it's a nice alternative to the defaults.

Let me know if you get any errors or other problems.
I'll try to fix it up some more as I have time.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm going to check out dealextreme in the future - I didn't know they carried such a good selection of LED bulbs. Incidentally, the Cyron MR16 LED bulbs are 47% off now on Amazon.

Very nice design and good forum concept.

Personally I'm skipping CFLs myself because of the tricky mercury issues and false advertising about their long-life and going straight to LEDs to solve both problems (though the cost is much higher). LEDs also dim properly and safely. I guess it's easier for me as I only need a few bulbs. I'm going to probably order from dealextreme as they are still too expensive on Amazon.

Maybe your CSS was cached? Another reason to be running with a CSS version in the stylesheet link uri perhaps?

I've noticed there is a serious problem with the way the CSS works for the default Kakumei theme (and any other theme based on it).

As you add information to the post author field on the left, it will start to vertically overflow and start to overlap the next post. This is because the designer unfortunately decided to use a shortcut via
position:absolute
making it impossible to
clear:both
columns.

Here's how to easily fix it by appending two simple lines to the very bottom of the
style.css
and no need to search for and edit/replace other lines.

.threadauthor {position:relative; float:left; margin:0 -110px 0 0; right:110px; }
.poststuff {clear:both;}

If you don't want to edit any core files, simply put this into a plugin (make a new one or any existing one)

function fix_kakumei_css() { echo '<style type="text/css">.threadauthor {position:relative; float:left; margin:0 -110px 0 0; right:110px; } .poststuff {clear:both;} </style>';}
add_action('bb_head', 'fix_kakumei_css');

Tested working in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari for Windows. Would appreciate MAC browser feedback?

(I will attempt to automatically include this hack in my plugins to help avoid edits since it's usually my plugins that add so much info to the left but the new gravatar in 0.9 will also cause the overflow)

Should actually be a core fix now that I think about it.

I also am working in Windows via localhost. I also get the "Theme not found. Default theme applied." error message that flaerpen does.

After a few hours debugging, I got a fix:

In themes.php, change the line:

$activetheme = bb_get_option('bb_active_theme');

to

$activetheme = stripslashes(bb_get_option('bb_active_theme'));

I believe that fixes the double slashes added by the webserver.

I couldn't get Trent's or nanome's plugin to work. However, I solved the issue by double checking which php extensions were installed on the remote web server verses my local dev. environment. The problem resolved itself when I installed "soap". I think that is what resolved it. I am not sure because (like the noob that I am) I activated all the extension that wamp comes with that matched the extensions actived on the remote server....

I hope that makes sense... I am pretty sure I am not using the right terms. Hopefully, you can follow what I am saying. In short, make sure the php extensions / environment on you localhost match the extensions/environment of the remote host.

*blush* definitely not the best. Most active at the moment, but in a year with 10,000 bbPress users and 100+ developers, no one will even remember my nickname. Heck I can't even get "admin can post anything" to work right, it's driving me crazy.

Actually I was going to put a call out for free hosting as my dreamhost account expires sometime near the end of this month.

But I need an account with shell and a decent server so it's tricky to find cheap & stable. I hate moving my site ever other month but I always learn something from the move when it breaks code.

I need to go back and change the bottom into a table like I did with the FutureKind theme. That will solve both the border on the headers and the spacing is an easy fix with line-height. I haven't released it because I still have to clean up some CSS laziness that I did and put in some conditional code for bb-topic-views (so it will still work right if people don't have it installed)

The server load on dreamhost is always wrong (as with their microtime so the page render time is always wrong). Dreamhost uses a NFS filesystem where the files are remote from the server the code is executing on. So if there is a file queue, the load will be artificially high, it's not CPU load, it's disk load (which affects the overall load numbers).

I only paid $20 for that dreamhost (for a year promo) and will not be renewing. It's mind-boggling that some people pay over $100 a year for that hosting.

Aha! It's nice, I think it needs a small bottom border on the Views and Hot Tags headers, you know, like the other headers ^_^.

Again, I think the list of views could use a bit more space between lines.

Seriously, what's with your serverload O_O. Do you want some free hosting for that stuff? It's not healthy to live in a server with 9+ server load.

However thanks to a theme switcher I pieced together you can now see it this way:

It's a nice theme, Though I think the views could use a little more line spacing, and maybe a bit of padding between the header/footer and the content. But that's just me.

And in a different topic, 8.9 Server Load? Ouch!

It's like that on purpose ;-)
That hosting only costs like $10 a year but it still costs.

Obviously if anyone wanted to use the template I'd either remove the ad entirely or put a space there if they wanted.

Looks pretty good in FF. You could push the google ad down a bit. It looks to cluttered there squashed upside your views and tags section.

I'm still working on it when I have the time but what do you think of the 760px wide hybrid I made?

http://bbshowcase.org/forums/?bbtheme=the-hybrid

I find white/grey/green a bit bland so I will add some colour to it eventually but wanted a starting reference point that looked similar to both.

I have the same error on LOCALHOST, and also with windows. (my forum hosted on web works :) )

(thierry is the name of my computer, and is synonyme of "localhost")
link I click on to activate my template is such : (there are 2 "\")
http://thierry/forum/bb-admin/themes.php?theme=D%3A%5C%5CMes+Documents%5C%5Csites_web%5C%5C2diabolos.com%5C%5Cforum%2Fmy-templates%2F2diabolos%2F&_wpnonce=0ecdd913e2

I tried the "patch_to_url_2" in vain.

a "brillant" idea made me change the themes.php :

if ( !in_array($activetheme, $themes) ) {
	$activetheme = BBPATH . 'my-templates/2diabolos/'; // THIS LINE WAS 'bb-templates/kakumei/' ...
	bb_update_option( 'bb_active_theme', $activetheme );
	remove_action( 'bb_admin_notices', $theme_notice );
	bb_admin_notice( __('Theme not found. Default theme applied.'), 'error' );
}

works well (hopefully)

(after reflection, I think the following line don't help)
I tried to debug a little bit. I put in themes.php

print_r($themes);
echo "<br>";
echo "the theme you want to activate : " . $_GET['activated'] ;

the result for the first line is good, the "$_GET['activated'] " is empty.

Is there any way of displaying the page numbers (as links) in the thread listing, so that you can jump straight to the latest page? Would be much nicer to navigate. :) If not, I'll add it as a ticket to trac? Not sure what the right thing to do is!
