I'm running WordPress 2.6 under root; bbPress under /forums and also using K2 1.0RC7 as my WordPress theme.

I have made a new page called 'Forums' on WordPress which is now in the navbar and have used the plugin 'Page Links To' to make this page point to /forums.

However, what would be the best way to get the blog acting like this one, for example:
http://onvertigo.com/ .... clicking 'Forum' lets bbPress load underneath the header.

There is a K2 theme floating around for bbPress but it doesn't have the top nav.....

Any help would be appreciated!

You're asking about gravtars but then talking about uploading avatars which are two different features.

There are plugins for bbPress to show a user's gravatar but if it's a locally uploaded avatar within WordPress, someone would have to come up with some code to display it on the bbPress side. So it's possible but would take someone to look at it.

The avatar upload plugin on the bbpress side has some documentation or user comments on how to access the avatar from wordpress.

Thanks for responding.. there was one problem I fixed here...

http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/noobish-css-question?replies=4

If you have few posts (and a lot of tags) the tag list would run off the page. While this is rare, it is common in cases where all but one of the forums would be private- new users would see the ugly tag overflow.

Thanks for a great theme... much appreciated.

@schmitt, Thanks for the feedback :)

No I don't have an SVN for the k2 BBPress theme, but what changes would you submit. Before posting please think about my following points.

(a) I have not yet implemented a "proper" tab bar , like the solution posted by Sabutay as "normal" users don't like editing things.... what ever I implement as a template would be wrong for the majority of people.
(b) fam-fam icons, I do want to do, but I don't want to unnecessarily bloat the theme, just installing a ccs file is kinda cool. Just using a css also makes the theme more "secure", i.e. anyone who developed their theme from the original wordpress kubrick theme has had to keep releasing updates in order for the theme not to be vulnerable to XSS various attacks.

If one were to add enhancements to the K2 BBpress theme, I don't think there is an SVN to submit changes.

Does it make sense to have a themes SVN just like plugins?

Find the .post rule and add
overflow: auto;
to it. That way there will be a scroll bar at the bottom if anything is too long.
overflow: hidden;
will simply hide it instead.

Also, if you didn't know bb does let you search. :) Hit up http://www.nyquistcapital.com/forums/search.php . You can also add a search form to your template but I'm not sure just how.

In Safari/Camino, it still has issues.
#hottags{height: 100%;}
helps that one.

There's no direct solution. You can do one of these:

Change
<?php tag_heat_map(); ?>
to
<?php tag_heat_map('limit=30'); ?>
. The default limit is 40 I think, if you set it to 30 or any appropriate number they won't go so far down. But you'd want to change that again later.

Put the
footer
inside the
wrapper
. I'm not sure how your templates are arranged, but in kakumei you'd just have to open
footer.php
and move the codeblock that produces the div
footer
up a few lines, just above the previous
</div>
. Permanent change, now the footer is on the white, but the white will always stretch down sufficiently.

Wait it out - eventually there'll be enough topics to stretch the page :)

I think there are a few other things you could do, but that second point is probably the best if you need it changed now.

For that added *thang* you could try and inject some FamFamFam, just as K2 has, and they would look like twins. :P

I make a little modify now, to shown the current_page_item in the header. Just add a class to the < li > function, which belongs to the Forum. Like :

<li class="current_page_item"><a href="http://www.mainpage.com/forum">Forum</a

See in action:

www.ahumder.org

then click on forum, you will see that the background changes to white.
You are able to change the color in the style.css

thanks Sabutay, you're right that was missing, I was trying to avoid editing any of the php templates, but I agree this "part" is critical to the look of the theme.

I'd like to move the "Profile / admin / log out" boxes into these tabs, as I think it would make them fit nicely, but the functions output this a
<p>
rather than
<ul>
by default :o(

I've made a little modification, i add a tab-line in the header.php, just like the same as k2 theme.

You can see it here:

www.ahumder.org/forum

For modification, first put these lines in the style.css

/*- Main Menu in Header */

ul.menu {
margin: 0;
}

ul.menu,
ul.menu li a {

Thanks Trent.

For any future googlers that find this thread, I've added a screenshot here as the demo site is likely to change as I play with stuff ;o)

i've integrated WP and bbPress to my satisfaction (functions anyway). so now i tried integrating the look.

consulted http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/38/page/2?replies=29 and tried to do it with Tarski. it works beautifully. now i tried it with K2. it somehow doesn't work? i got this error...

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare widget_akismet() (previously declared in /home/gray/domains/unlimitedinfinity.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/akismet/akismet.php:376) in /home/gray/domains/unlimitedinfinity.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/akismet/akismet.php on line 376

would someone please point me in the right direction? i understand it'sa double declare of Akismet plugin. so how do i like not make that second declaration? if say i didn't want to edit K2, where do i turn this function off in bbPress?

Well, I wouldn´t try to implement the original K2 livesearch, and search for another solution, e.g. this one at orderedlist.com. Why? Because the K2 one needs many changes - in my opinion to many changes.

Another Option: The old K2 livesearch used in the early K2 releases.

And another thing: It would be nice to have (if you have bbPress integrated with WP) one search to search all...
