If you use the latest trunk from the subversion repository then this setting is made in the database rather than the config file.

Scroll to the bottom of this page and use the "Zip Archive" link.

Although a little new, trunk should be stable enough to use right now (rev.1010).

Better still, install trunk using subversion and then updating is much simpler.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to change my forum name into a Japanese name. So I looked on this forum and it says that I must change the name into the config.php.

the problem is that if I write :
// What are you going to call me?
$bb->name = 大阪フォーラム;

It just won't work (problem with the japanese decoding)

So i tried :
// What are you going to call me?
$bb->name = __('Osaka Forum');

Translated the phrase etc into the ja.mo files as I do for the rest, and then when I upload config.php it just tell me that __(); function don't exist.

May someone have any idea for me?

Tks

I reply to myself (This forum is auto-curative ;P)

So for the people who are endeavouring the same errors here is the deal:

* a format specification for argument 1 doesn't exist in 'msgstr' : This error is due to a missing variable in the translated string -> In my case a %s was missing.

* field `Language-Team' still has initial default value : This error means that you have to update information in " Catalog / Settings / Project info " -> In my case the Project name and version was something like "bbpress trunk", the Language wasnt defined, nor wad the Country, Charset and Source code Charset. I still do not have info in the Plural Forms but it's running.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you encounter problems with ja.po or ja.mo (Or if you want those files and cannot found them).

Hello all,

I found on this site an address leading to "よくきたBlog" where ja.po and ja.mo files were available. I could use it for my forum but I realize that some part really needing to be modified. I tried then to open the ja.po file in PoEdit, which I managed to do. The problem is that when I try to save the file, it prompt me 2 errors:

09:57:33: msgfmt: K:\..\bb-includes\languages\ja.po: field `Language-Team' still has initial default value
09:57:33: K:\..\bb-includes\languages\ja.po:323: a format specification for argument 1 doesn't exist in 'msgstr'
09:57:33: msgfmt: found 2 fatal errors

When i turn off the "create automatically an *.mo file", the program save the *.po file correctly. I wonder how I can fix those errors (Cause it seems that the program will not create a new ja.mo file untill those errors vanish).

Thanks for reading

Rui

Hey all,

I just reply to myself...

Just Want to say that actually the problem is half fixed. In fact, The new topic and in general all new things I've been writting since the #745 update are displaying as it should, the only matter is that all that was in Japanese before the #745 update just go wrong.

As my forum was just up and working for only one day, there is no problem for me, just wanna prevent all others who use Japanese and are going to apply this patch.

Tks

Hello Everybody,

Firstly, thank you all for those great free Blog and Forum you created. It's just wonderfull, kinda think that it just couldnt be more what I was looking forward for.

During the installation I had the "mysql->i<-_get_server_info()" problem and followings that I could fix easily with the #745 patch.

But, this would have been such a beautifull story ... ;P Has the DB error disapeared, all my Japanese texts transformed to "日本語". Before the #745 patch, I am sure it was working (actually that was the first thing I checked after having it installed cause all my forum is gonna be in Japanese).

I have to mention that I only installed the genuine thing, I did not install any pluging for Japanese or such.

Could you be so kind to help me fixing this character problem please?

Thanks
