What you are asking for is very easy.

$forums = get_forums();
gets you all the forums,

$topics   = get_latest_topics( $forum_id);
will get you the topics list for any forum id. So if you looped through the forums like on the front page, just fetch the $topics after each forum in the loop.

The formatting and page layout is the "hard" part.

I second that and suggest an additional option. I'm using private forums but it is lacking two things that would make it great and make bbPress more in line with other forums:

1. allow viewing to be based on class, e.g. I have a admin section that I only want admins to even know exists, but I also have other forums that I do want people to see but not necessarily acces, which leads onto...

2. allow the ability to reply to topics but not create new ones, e.g. you have fixed items (like, say a support forum) where people can post questions but not create new topics.

If you ever feel like upgrading this plug-in, here's a feature request:

Make the specific forum private to certain user classes.

I recently converted from SMF, where I had a number of 'secret' forums. These were were used for 'in-house' project discussions, not for your average user. I had to delete all these sub-forums from bbPress because they weren't for all eyes to see.

I'd love to be able to set it so that only 'staff' can see a particular board, whereas most boards would be accessible by all.

Thank you for the help. So what I did was take my original Wordpress template and put it in the templates folder and it gave me this:

http://vistarewired.com/test2/wp-content/bbpress/

This is what I want except I want to center it, add some grey boxes behind it and that is pretty much it. How do I do this? Because I'm using the same CSS I used for my original blog template which is at http://vistarewired.com

What are you expecting from integration? Integration here means the user information is shared, that's about it. If you want your bbPress installation to look like your WordPress blog, there is more work to be done. I'm guessing that's what you're expecting: you want your forum to look like your blog?

crazlunatic: did you try it? That looks like what you need to do for integration, to me. Oh, except I think you need to do that before you install, so that your user tables are integrated. If you changed that after installation, install again.

Integration next week will be different with the release of WordPress 2.5 and the latest bbPress 0.9.

rahul286: the false option always works for all servers. The other options work but require some configuration on your end. So, setting it to false is the quickest and easiest way to get going. It's not a problem with bbPress, it's a problem with configuration on a lot of servers.

That is great. I really appreciate your help but now I want to integrate it into wordpress. How can I do this?

It looks bad because the path to your style.css is wrong. The stylesheet should be here, but it's not:
http://vistarewired.com/test2/forums/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css

So, where is it really? I suspect the path in the config.php and the URL you are using to access the forum are not the same, and that's why you see the forum without any styling.

Wait - it's actually here:
http://vistarewired.com/test2/bbpress/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css

So, in your config you called the directory
forums
but you actually installed it in the directory
bbpress
. You need to fix your config.php.

You have this:
$bb->uri = 'http://vistarewired.com/test2/forums/';

It needs to be this:
$bb->uri = 'http://vistarewired.com/test2/bbpress/';

(or, you can leave the config alone and change the name of the
bbpress
directory to
forums
.)

Fix that and everything will look as it should. You may need to do a hard refresh or clear the cache in your browser to see the effect of the changes. CTRL SHIFT R in Firefox.

I hope you were making changes with each subsequent installation. If so, what did you try?

Try setting permalinks to
false
instead of true or slugs, in your config.php, like this:

$bb->mod_rewrite = false;

If that works, then it's a pretty permalinks issue.

Very nice design and good forum concept.

Personally I'm skipping CFLs myself because of the tricky mercury issues and false advertising about their long-life and going straight to LEDs to solve both problems (though the cost is much higher). LEDs also dim properly and safely. I guess it's easier for me as I only need a few bulbs. I'm going to probably order from dealextreme as they are still too expensive on Amazon.

I'm going to try a fresh reinstall and see if I can get it working, otherwise I'm off to Vbulletin. :(

The template I'm using is totally stock (except the header color/image) that I added. Would that actually cause a problem?

Also Tried the $bb->akismet_key = false;

No luck yet - thanks for your help Trent.

Logins and such are best used with default everything until you know they work. Try the default template again and report back any specific things you have going on there. As well, once you start fiddling with integrating with WP in the config.php it will use the Wordpress members. Another thing if you don't have Akismet setup would be to put:

$bb->akismet_key = false;

Still a no go.... Tried with the false and it still isn't working. I switched over to the old template, and it worked for a little while -- until I logged off once, then it wouldn't log back in.

Trent's right. The string 'false' equates to the boolean TRUE. Which means you have basic permalinks turned on.
