Is it related to using a language file? I seem to recall a problem people would posting HTML while using a language file. Can you change yours temporarily and see if you can post HTML again?

I have a forum running as an appendix to the wordpress blog we have at lyngbytaekwondo.dk and people love it.

Now after upgrading WP to version 2.5.1 it seems like all my html examples in the forum are being ruined when I try to add something. Right after installing the forum I did a post where wrote a post about how to use som of the html codes available and it worked nicely with the backtick to keep bbPress from formatting.

When I tried to modify something yesterday by editing the post, all the html examples in backticks were destroyed and I cannot get the backtick to work again.

If anybody can recommend a starting point for me to debug this, it will be appreciated.

I've tried hacking a couple wp plugins to bbpress to get better code preservation. But it's not working.

What is used here? It seems to actually work somehow and that's not the default technique in the core...

Check out the file loggedin.php in your template. The admin menu includes this file to display "welcome your_name....". So if you have some img or lists or anything different from a span or p, that file is probably breaking the menu layout.

I think you are probably missing some CSS for the admin page, and it's likely due to the edits that were made. Since you've made significant edits, I am not going to recommend going back to the stock theme. You are going to have to fix your current theme, and without someone here able to log in as admin, they would not be able to see what's broken.

Some tools you can use:
Validate your CSS
Validate your XHTML

After editing a few things on my bb-press forums (moving the login, messages, and profile view link, in addition to adding a 'Forum' text with links to our guidelines), my admin menu is now haywire.

verbatim in my bb-admin/style.css file does no good

because there are no blockquotes in bb-Admin. Apply them to your theme, which should be in my-templates/themename/style.css. I agree, kakumei needs default blockquote support. I'll add a trac ticket or sumthin'.

I just installed bbpress yetserday on a new domain and have integrated it with wordpress using the plugin, etc. I also have found that the default template has no blockquote support. Even by including the blockquote definition given above by Trent verbatim in my bb-admin/style.css file does no good, here is a view source excerpt of the source file:

<blockquote><p>[Shakir 5:57] O you who believe! do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke...</p></blockquote>

as a test...

testing blockquote here in bbpress support

nope. above line doesnt render in blockquoted indent either.

i think the problem is the insertion of <p></p> tags around every paragraph. Since blockquote is an inline style, the p tags override it. we could get around this by using a div class=blockquote kind of construction instead but wouldt it be nicer if blockquote just worked out of the box?

Yeah, as you mentioned, this can only happen when viewing a topic. The site I'm working on is password protected as it isn't public yet. But I've taken a screenshot which you can check out here. Notice all the text on the page from the sentence starting with "Matt" is in bold. That's where I opened the strong tag.

This must happen on a topic with replies right? All topics are listed on front-page.php and formatting in a post wouldn't change that page. Almost all pages are listed with titles only, so you must be referring to topics page? Is that correct or is there something more?

As well, do you have an example?

I've got a new installation of bbPress which is integrated into a mammoth WordPress site and I'm quite pleased with the outcome. The only real roadblock I've hit cropped up while testing.

If a user doesn't close an HTML tag in their post, the formatting is carried through to the rest of the site (yikes!). As you can imagine, things can get ugly real quick when this happens. And it will happen, without a doubt.

Anyone aware of a fix for this? Did some searching and browsing but didn't find any mention of this.

You should be able to change your style.css to reflect how you want your blockquote to work. I changed mine and see no problems with it. Take a look at:

http://forum.trentadams.ca/topic.php?id=313&replies=1#post-483

Used:

blockquote {
border-left: 1px solid #c00;
border-right: 1px solid #c00;
border-top: 1px solid #c00;
border-bottom: 1px solid #c00;
background: #fff;
width: 300px;
padding: 5 5 5 5px;
}
