Wow, that's very weird. Using Firefox3/Mac as well I can make it work by holding down shift on refresh. It's almost like a caching issue.

Hey, there.

Well I finally got around to validating my feeds. They do in fact validate, but I'm still getting the document tree intermittently on Firefox 3.0.3 for Mac OSX. I don't seem to be having a similar problem on Safari (though I haven't tested it as extensively). Here's the output for the feed at http://agitainment.com/ics/forum/rss.php?forum=3:

Hi, there.

I have been getting sporadic errors with my RSS feeds using both my own theme and the default Kakumei theme on the latest installation of bbPress.

Sometimes when I hit the various RSS links, the following error comes up on a new page followed by a listing of the document tree:

"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

Usually, when I hit the back button on my browser and try the feed button again, it works fine.

Any idea what's going on here and how to fix it?

Thanks!

hi

i was wondering if anybody has a solution in the form of a bbpress plugin that allows display of external rss feeds as links (link title + short description) on the page. i know that rss2html exists, but since i'm a total newbie as far as bbpress is concerned, i find it hard to incorporate it. it would be great if this could be achieved with a plugin.

just to clarify: i need to be able to select an external rss feed, then put a simple call to the function/plugin in the template, and have the feeds displayed on the page as regular html...

any tips would be greatly appreciated

all best

I've just started an RSS feed. Got it to work perfectly with just 1 item. However, once I tried to add another item to the feed, I got the XML Parsing error. I get: XML Parsing Error: junk after document element
Location: http://www.mychurchcast.org/viennapodcast.rss
Line Number 21, Column 1:

I've gone to the RSS Best Practices site and others and it seems I'm doing everything correctly, but it still won't validate. Any help would be appreciative. Thanks!

bbSync would be fine however I want to import RSS feeds from blogs other than mine. Importing from my WordPress blog just won't do it.

I thought about possibly using feedwordpress plugin to pull the topics into wordpress then use bbSync to pull the topics into bbPress but...... that's getting pretty ugly and I really don't want to pull external feeds into my blog......

Would prefer to find a plugin which I can just point at a feed and it will create new topics into a forum of my choice (per rss feed).

I have heard of WordPress widgets being used to show the latest bbPress entries in a blog, but nothing I know of that will create a new entry in bbPress from an RSS feed.

Could you use bbSync to follow the RSS items that are imported into WordPress to create the new bbPress topics?

Hi,

I want to convert from my phpBB forum to bbPress however I need 1 more plugin to make it happen.

I need a Plugin for bbPress which will monitor RSS feed's and post new items into bbPress as a post.

Does anyone know of a free plugin which does this today?

For Wordpress, I'm using the Plugin - FeedWordpress
URL - http://projects.radgeek.com/feedwordpress/

It works great and has many great options. Hopefully something exists for bbPress.

It is all program related. I would check if there is a setting to change this to a quicker time. I have this issue with Google Reader and other feed readers as well. Rest assured, the feed is instantly updated and you can check this by going to the feed yourself in a web browser.

I just installed bbpress :) and I have a feed of my forum in my netvibes page, but it does not seem to 'refresh'?

My quesiton is: How fast does the netvibes page should 'notice' that I posted a new post in my forum? Is there something I should look into? I think it should be 'noticed' at once. Right?

Many thanks!

-daniel

Update => It was just published in my netvibes page... that was after like 50 mins!! And I hit 'refresh' in the netvibes feed. :( Is this normal?

That option (a) would maybe require a plugin that maybe someone would be nice enough to write for you as I don't think it would be too hard.

Option (b) is already available:

feed://bbpress.org/forums/rss/

Elo,

Does anyone know of any plugins that offer (or perhaps these could be features?)....

(a) An option to automagically add post replies to my favourites ? ( I'm too lazy to click the link after I've posted ;op )

(b) An aggregated feed for all forums, so I can just subscribe to bbpress.org/forums/feed ( for example ) rather than going through each board ( yeah, I'm lazy here to! ).

Cheers

yes, that is exactly what I wanted... strange behavior though as I "guessed" thats what the address would be... well, sort of... I left off the trailing slash and get a page error... still not used to bbpress pretty urls wanting that trailing slash that is not normally needed...

thanks!

Is the plugin viewer different than the "Extend" menu item on this site? That has an RSS feed:

bbPress plugin browser: Recent Plugins
http://bbpress.org/plugins/rss/

Maybe this is different than what you're asking for.

Could have sworn that we had a FAQ over in wp.com land but I don't see it. Just the half ass one I have in the support forums:

The "feed" tag is used by RSS readers and is usually not recognized by browsers that do not have a RSS reader installed. You can see the RSS feed if you manually type in your blog's feed URL into the URL bar of your browser. (ie: http://username.wordpress.com/feed/)

Hope this helps,

hey there,

just noticed that my feeds don't work properly. the rss links get generated correctly. the problem is that somehow
feed:
gets added as part of the link, which results in opera and ie in this error message: The address type is unknown or unsupported.

when i copy & paste just the link, then everything works like a charm. you can see an example here
