I just found your Options and Hybrid themes about 3 days ago. I know where have I been? These are *wildly* great themes for wp guy. Really nice job. I've been putting together a wish list for a theme and Options comes scarily close. :D Thanks for the great theme. Once again, I know, kick in some cash. I will. Can I pay rent first?

macwise or Trent,

Would you mind writing a few lines on how this actually works? I have two main questions:

First, I'm intrigued by the call to "apply_filters()". Does this make it possible for future plugins to use "ra_get_wp_profile_info_keys" as a hook? In other words, the plugin would achieve the same result if it just returned the second argument of "ra_get_wp_profile_info_keys": "array('user_email'... etc."

Second, how and when does a new column get added to the database for the custom profile fields?

Just curious, and learning about plugin development.

Thanks.

I use it in WP and bbPress :) It's easy to adapt, and as you have both integrated ...

Of course you could also print the "about" text entered by the user in their Profile page in the Dashboard. So you only really need a plugin for the gamertags.

Detective - Thanks I'll take a look. But it doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for since it's a wp plugin. And the possibility of adding gamertags isn't really the only thing I want to get out of this.

I mean what I'm really looking for i some way to catch the value of a field and echo it inside some code.

And as i mentioned earlier I'd really like to give my users the op to create "About me"-content.

Maybe it's easier to do this outside of the profile-section? But I'm unfortunately not a PHP-coder so I ain't good at writing php from scratch.

Midnightsun & antonskey already mentioned similair things. I have a site for gamers (integrated wp and bbp using the bbp as the member section) and I wan't to give them the possibility to add their Xbox Live Gamertag, Wii Friendcode and PSN ID.

There must be som easy way to, from the profile-template, check if the Gamertag field has a value and then just ad the name to the gamertag embed code. I was looking in the template-functions file and took a look att bb_profile_data and I think that's kind of similar to what should be used in the theme.

Also I would like to give the members the possibility of creating something like a About Text. So instead of a normal field i would need a textarea. Hope someone knows what could be done.

Chris - need some clarification PLEASE.

I've changed the HTML tags, put them in a div and given it a CSS class, exactly as you suggested. I'm stuck at your point 3. I'll enumerate for ease of reply.

1. Should I still be in the header.php file when making the CSS code you have suggested? Or should all CSS code be in the style.css file?

2. I don't understand what you mean by "add it right around the lines for the #header, since you're still in the #header div". Specifically:
a) Where are the #header lines you refer to, and
b) When you say "add it right around the lines for the #header", I'm not sure what you mean by "right around", exactly. Do you mean immediately under #header?

I didn't anticipate these questions. I am very ignorant technically. Thanks for your patience.

Only just checked back on this thread, Chris - thanks a lot for your advice.

My current button could certainly be better positioned, and aesthectically enhanced, so I'm looking forward to trying out your suggestions. I have no idea about coding, but I have messed around changing colours etc in CSS that others have already written, so the info you have provided above is ideal for my purposes.

Sorry, lost this topic.

Looks like you have a button already, it's just in the wrong spot.

1. Make sure your HTML tags are lowercase. This is what you have now:

<FORM METHOD="LINK" ACTION="http://ashb.proofreadercentral.com/">
<INPUT TYPE="submit" VALUE="ASHB Home">
</FORM>

Should be more like:

<form method="link" action="http://ashb.proofreadercentral.com/">
<input type="submit" value="ASHB Home" />
</form>

2. To have control over that, I would put it in a div, and give it a CSS id or class. Something like this:

<div id="navbar">
	<form method="link" action="http://ashb.proofreadercentral.com/">
	<input type="submit" value="ASHB Home" />
	</form>
</div>

3. Now, with an id, you can make some modifications to your style.css. Something like this (add it right around the lines for the #header, since you're still in the #header div):

#navbar {
	position: relative;
	/* top: {number of pixels from the top of the header}; */
	/* left: {number of pixels from the left edge of the header}; */
	top: 100px;
	left: 0px;
}

Try different numbers in your style.css for the #navbar top and left positions you just added, and see where the button ends up. I'm not sure where you want it, but that will allow you to move it.

If you want it beneath what is inside the header div, with the background image, you will have to move the code out of the #header div in header.php.

Does that help point you in the right direction?

Could someone please post an example line of code that could be added to the appropriate php page to add a navigation button to the header, or just under the header, of a bbPress forum?

I have added a bbPress forum to a website, and just need a nav button on the bbPress forum that can take a user stright back to the home page of the website. I have no idea about php, though, so would be great if someone could add an example link showing the part I should customise in bold, or something like that.

Also, could someon please explain how I position the nav button on bbPress so that it is left-aligned to the header, or just below the header?

Hi,
I like your site. One thing that caught my attention. I count 4 adsense ad units on your posts. I believe there should be a maximum of 3 according to Adsense TOS.
Wanted to let you know.
Congrats on your hard work.
Necati

I can pay if it works best for you as well, but depending on the cost the work may have to be in the future then.

Right now I have a quick n' simple intergration by calling get_header() in header.php and get_footer() in footer.php

I have a slightly modified version of a GPL'ed wordpress theme I use on my wordpress MU site dailytestimony.net

I want to add support forums an bbpress appears to be my best option however I need to intergrate bbpress into the site visually.

I would like to keep the header as close as possible including links to pages, ect. In the middle I want content to the left, tags to the right, and a simple footer to match the theme.

I am not sure what something like this goes for, but I'm hoping to barter for the work. The site this is designed for has ad space for a button in te admin panel footer I could trade for the theme or we can discuss other deals.

If you would be up for it shoot me an email support (a) (t) dailytestimony.net
