Directories need to be 0755. Did you fix the problem by doing something? Sounds like the web server does not allow the directives you're trying to use in .htaccess.</p> <p>BTW, I use <code>AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php</code> on almost every install without a problem. Maybe the server just doesn't support it.
