Ok so I downloaded a back up of the site, deleted and reinstalled the subdomain.

I uploaded the back up and viola! It is up and running.

It obviously was a problem with the subdomain.

Thanks for the help _ck_

Note: Compared to wp, I don't see a wp_options database entry so I can't see where the base URI is being saved at...

I am new to bbPress so maybe I am just missing it.

I know your a busy person _ck_ so thanks for the quick reply.

it is a true subdomain, no mod_rewrite. There are no .htaccess files associated and I did have the forethought to add an .htaccess page in the root directory.

Tried
RewriteEngine
and
RewriteBase
.

I am not using multiviews.

I am using the same database for several WP installs for them to share the same User data. Yet I have not used the integration functions for bbPress. All files have their bb_ prefix and should not be interacting with any other ones.

And you are right , doesn't look like it is allowing Index.php file to run through.

Any other ideas?

My very first guess would be a problem with the way subdomains are being handled. Is it a true subdomain or a mod_rewrite subdomain?

There may be parent direct htaccess rules that is messing something up with a conflict.

It doesn't even feel like bbPress is getting to execute, index.php is not even being called.

You're not using multiviews correct?

I am trying to install bbPress version 0.9.0.2

Installation URL: http://forums.seocoalition.com

So it goes through the whole process and completes it, but when you go to the main page, there is nothing. No error messages, no output, nothing at all.

Since I don't know what the problem is, I am at a lost as to what to do. I search of the forums hasn't provided any answers.

I've just posted some updates. See this post on my site.

I will tidy up the downloads page so you can still get to old versions. For now you can only access links to the latest themes.

You should think about using ck's bbpress showcase plugin so your visitors can see live demo's of each of the themes. You can see it in action at http://bbshowcase.org/forums/ there is a combo box at the bottom right of the page that allows you to change themes on the fly.

Hi,

I've just launched a new site bbpressraw.com. The site provides a set of lean & mean bbPress themes that are designed to enable you to quickly develop your own custom bbPress themes. They should save you a great deal of time if you are trying to create your own theme from scratch.

The themes are compatible with and have been tested with bbPress 0.8.3.

A number of layout variations have been provided, including:

1col_fixed: bbPress blank 1-column theme with fixed width

1col_fluid: bbPress blank 1-column theme with fluid width

2col_fixed_left: bbPress blank 2-column theme with left sidebar and fixed width

2col_fixed_right: bbPress blank 2-column theme with right sidebar and fixed width

2col_fluid_left: bbPress blank 2-column theme with left sidebar and fluid width

2col_fluid_right: bbPress blank 2-column theme with right sidebar and fluid width

For now the themes have been made available. During the next week I'll be posting some tips to get you up and running quickly!

Enjoy!

I've just set up a bbpress forum and everything seemed to work one day, then the next it stopped. All registrations and new posts would lead to a blank page. I couldn't find the problem in the code, reinstalled a few times, and eventually I found out it was because of akismet. For some reason, it was flagging new registrations and posts as spam or something. It would leave the page blank, so I never knew what was going on.

I've removed the API key from my config.php and everything works fine. My forum is currently unlinked because I'm still setting up. But I would like to get akismet working before the spam hits it ;)

If you are getting a blank page, you probably have a syntax problem in one of your template files that's creating a PHP error, and your host just stops on errors. Try using the default theme and see if things work. If they do, then try looking at the files you modified for a PHP syntax error.

If you have access to a php error log, you can look there for information too.

Hi,

I installed bbpress and adapted the design, but now, when a users attempts to register or login, appaers a blank page or apparently does nothing.

When I reload the bbpress page (for example, www.mydomain.com/bbpress) the user appaers login it.

How can I do resolve the problem with blank pages? Thank you,

My development machine is a local install of Apache/PHP/mySQL on my PowerBook running under OS 10.4.9.

I've tried installing bbPress within a folder of my wordpress installation for a project I'm working on, but I'm getting blank pages from bbPress (ie. no content at all - just a white page). WordPress installed and works fine, but I can't even get to the point of installing bbPress.

I'm running PHP 5.1.6 and mySQL 5.0.22-standard.

Anyone got any suggestions on how I can get content showing on the pages?

RESOLVED.

I am not sure what I did to fix it:
1) i renamed my config.php to config1.php (to get it out of the way);
2) copied config-sample.php to config.php
3) re-entered all the vaues, differences from the first time:

I put in the API key

I did not put in the time zone

I put the quotation marks around wordpress URLs

So, I uploaded bbpress, configured config.php, punched bb-admin/install.php in my browser and saw... nothing. Not even an error message.

Ok, I went poking around. Deleted config.php and got the error message as expected.

Next line in the code is: require_once('../config.php');
I do not believe I get over this hurdle (if I recall correctly, require_once dies quietly).

I changed it to require config-sample.php, and got as far as database error message. config-sample.php and config-php sit next to each other with exactly same permissions.

I cannot think of a reason for require_once to see one but not the other...

Mystery...

Any ideas?

My bad. resolved it -
http://bbpress.org/documentation/faq/#pretty-permalinks

I had enabled pretty permalinks but had no .htaccess file.
in the /forums/ directory I created a .htaccess file and added the line

Options +MultiViews

as per instructions and it worked like a charm.

Hello. I am trying to install bbpress under a WP2.0.5 install at http://www.inkriti.net/wp1/forums/ . I have gone through the documentation for integration at http://bbpress.org/documentation/integration-with-wordpress/ and looks like things come up fine.

However, when i add an entry, or click on a tag (e.g. http://www.inkriti.net/wp1/forums/tags/mytag) i see a blank page! not sure why.
Its the same issue when I try to click on a forum topic - e.g. http://www.inkriti.net/wp1/forums/topic/2?replies=1

The variables in the config file are
$bb->domain = 'http://www.inkriti.net';
$bb->path = '/wp1/forums/';

$bb->wp_table_prefix = 'wp_';
$bb->wp_home = 'http://www.inkriti.net/wp1';
$bb->wp_siteurl = 'http://www.inkriti.net/wp1';

This appears to be a wierd issue - i know i am missing somethign simple. IN particular I see that both $bb->wp_siteurl and $bb->wp_home are different from $bb->domain - could this be it?

Any help will be appreciated.
