Interestingly, I just replied to a thread, but it doesn't show up. Then I added a couple tags to that thread, and they don't show up. I know I did it all. I will check tomorrow to see if the content shows up. This is the worst I've seen. Normally it's visible within 20 or 30 seconds. This has been a few minutes now.

http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/after-install-several-broken-links

UPDATE: after 5 minutes, now my reply is there and so are the tags. Weirdness.

Yes I've observed the same problem.

At first I though it was db sync, since Automattic uses three different datacenters with sync'ed mysql.

But now I think instead it's bad no-caching headers of some kind. bbPress sends nocache headers to prevent the old page from reloading after a post. It's possible that's been broken somehow.

Also, using Firefox 3, the page loads with the top of the page displayed, not the bottom where the named anchor would be, I suppose because the anchor is not there. When it's working properly, it loads with your latest reply in view. When the reply is not there, the page loads with the top of the topic visible.

I just thought to check the address bar to see if the proper reply number is being appended, and it is. So, the URL looks like:

http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/column-widths-topic-posts-last-poster-freshness?replies=2#post-21105

But there is no #post-21105 (my reply) on the page. It's just not there yet. Odd.

Something I've noticed here for a week or two. When you reply to a thread, after hitting [Send Post] the screen refreshes, the text you entered is no longer visible in the text area, but your reply is not shown. Sometimes, since I didn't want to lose what I wrote, I would go back with the browser controls to copy my text, then I would refresh the thread and post that reply, to make sure it goes through. Then, at some point in the near future (2 minutes, 5 minutes, something like that), I look at the thread and my reply is there twice. It's like the reply goes into the database, but upon initial submission the topic refreshes but does not show my new reply.

Just recording it here in case someone else has a similar issue.

It seems the reply always goes through, it just isn't shown when the topic refreshes after the initial submission.

Keep in mind I'm an independent plugin developer and not directly associated with bbPress.org or Automattic.com

I just moderate here to help out. bbPress.org is part of Automattic.com and doesn't actually need donations of money, Sam and Michael are paid employees.

But code contributions are tremendously appreciated. A quality bug report or code contribution on http://trac.bbpress.org goes a long way to helping bbPress.

(If you'd like to donate to me specifically for my plugin development, you can help me towards a replacement monitor here.)

I am a budding new Internet Marketer and I have no money.

But that doesn't mean I can't help... My forum is just in it's infancy but you can see how I am helping bbPress.org round up some money to continue it's work.

http://forums.seocoalition.com

I have included in the left hand side a ChipIn.com widget. I will try to raise $500 dollars for bbPress.org and see if we can get _ck_ some extra cash to keep the process going.

I don't know if this is going to work but I am willing to try. I think that anyone using this free product should give something back.

I am putting the code for the widget below and you can use it on your sites or what have you to help out. If you need different sizes, let me know and I will see what I can do.

The blockquotes are there in the source, but there is no corresponding CSS. This was brought up before here, but not addressed. If you are working on your own theme, just define blockquote in the style.css however you like, for example:

blockquote {
padding: 0 0 0 20px;

Is anyone else seeing this? When I go to www.bbpress.org I get the home page with no styles (just plain white bg and plain HTML). At first glance, I didn't see if anyone had already mentioned this, and didn't know another way to report it to the powers that be...

Practice makes perfect and you have a great headstart. I'll talk with my associate about shell access and everything and see if we can reach a nice agreement :)

*blush* definitely not the best. Most active at the moment, but in a year with 10,000 bbPress users and 100+ developers, no one will even remember my nickname. Heck I can't even get "admin can post anything" to work right, it's driving me crazy.

Actually I was going to put a call out for free hosting as my dreamhost account expires sometime near the end of this month.

But I need an account with shell and a decent server so it's tricky to find cheap & stable. I hate moving my site ever other month but I always learn something from the move when it breaks code.

ahh, I see :) It's nice. Well, if you ever need hosting, do contact me. That's the least I could do for the best bbpress plugin coder :D.

I need to go back and change the bottom into a table like I did with the FutureKind theme. That will solve both the border on the headers and the spacing is an easy fix with line-height. I haven't released it because I still have to clean up some CSS laziness that I did and put in some conditional code for bb-topic-views (so it will still work right if people don't have it installed)

The server load on dreamhost is always wrong (as with their microtime so the page render time is always wrong). Dreamhost uses a NFS filesystem where the files are remote from the server the code is executing on. So if there is a file queue, the load will be artificially high, it's not CPU load, it's disk load (which affects the overall load numbers).

I only paid $20 for that dreamhost (for a year promo) and will not be renewing. It's mind-boggling that some people pay over $100 a year for that hosting.
