Okay, now that I have my appetite back, can I manipulate the "allow-images.php" to restrict images to a certain width/scaling?

I know I could simply post with "width=250" on the image tag, but in order to make it easy for members, I'd like to do all the hard work for them.

Cheers!

If I am following this correctly, I've created a directory in my bbPress route directory called "my-plugins" and placed the "allow-images.php" in that folder (both locally and uploaded with FTP)

I've even Ctrl-F5'd my forum .. with no joy!

I have it exactly as you have above, a typical HTML Image Tag! ... I even tried bbCode in desperation, but no joy either way.

I uploaded the "allow-images.pgp" to the plugin directory on my FTP, so I wonder if I am missing some other procedure out, that I've overlooked?

What is the actual code you are using to get an image into your post? Post it here in backticks (upper left of most keyboards, beneath the ESC key.) Does it look like this?

<img src="http://www.cssnz.org/flower.jpg" />

Or, how about a link to your forum so someone can try it out.

Has anyone come across a plugin that allows users to post images without having to use html tags? Something more simple that allows a user to link to an image and have it display in their post.

I have a feeling not all of my users are web savvy enough to know how to properly use html tags.

Thanks!

"Keymaster email not sent" - I guess that's the error on installation, maybe because the server doesn't have an SMTP server.

In any case, that is not creating the problem with the plugin, I don't think. Do you have access to any server logs that might point to why this is not working? I have this installed on a LAMP server with 0.9.0.2 and it's working just fine for me. I don't know if there's an issue with being on a Windows server specifically. It just looks like the plugin is not working at all. It doesn't convert the img tag to the proper display.

Thanks Chrishajer. The software i use for the video is "Macromedia Captivate". It is a really cool software.
I checked the "show installation messages" and found this.
http://www.gamerwerks.com/upload/log.gif
I am not sure if this has any matter with the issue.
All the plugin showed actived.

I am using windows + apche + MySQL 5.0 as the local server.
The local host OS is chinese versioned, however the web server's OS is engligh versioned. Both have the same problem.

Thanks

Nice video (what tool did you use to record it?)

What we really need though, at the end, is for you to check the box "show installation messages" to reveal the installation error messages.

But I think the forum installed fine. I am curious about how the plugin installation went.

Also, what are you using for a localhost server, and also, are you using a language other than English?

I think the important thing missing here is what the "minor errors" were. Did you happen to check the box to reveal what the errors might have been?

The installation of bbPress looks like it went fine otherwise. How was the plugin installation? Anything abnormal?

I tried to post some images as the following:
showed up for me and there are no errors.

Create the directory/folder called "my-plugins" right at the same level as bb-plugins. You can also create a folder called "my-templates" at the same time. You might need that.

Then, put your plugins in the my-plugins folder and activate the plugin in the bbPress admin.

Does the plugin show up in the bbPress admin? If it does, can you activate it, or does it error out? If it errors out, what's the error?

If it shows up there and you can activate it fine, then how are you trying to use it?

I cannot get those plugins working.
The first one i started with is "allow images". Readme instructs me to put the "all image file. php" under "my-plugins" directory. I only have "pp-plugins" directory, so i created "my-plugins" directory and put that file under. But i cannot get it working.

I've now added auto-insert in 0.1.11

There is only one small bug in this method that I will have to address later. If you edit an existing post and upload a new image while ALSO changing the post text, it cannot save the post text AND upload the image (it will only upload the new image). This situation should be the least likely, though it could happen and I will have to deal with when I have more time.

All other auto-inserts should work correctly however, new posts and adding more images to a post.

I guess I can add that feature as an option.

I have heard a lot of people asking for the same thing, surely there is enough demand to have the plugin modified?

I think for the target audience I have that is not ideal.
It's for a jet boating forum so the majority of my users are very outdoorsy and not that computer savvy.

They are used to uploading pics on other forums and having them show up straight away. It makes sense. Why would you go to all of that trouble when other forums do it for you automatically.

Is there a way to modify the plugin code?
When you click insert it must do something so cant we just take that code and put it in the appropriate place ao that it does it straight after uploading?

Sorry if that is a stupid question, I am far from an expert.

I don't believe that exists yet. The attachment plugin was modified to allow you to insert the image after uploading it, but it's a two step process and clunky (IMO.)

I think the easiest thing is to just have the users use something like ImageShack or PhotoBucket and then use the allow images plugin. They upload the image to hosting, then insert the image. Problem solved.

The images are not stored on your server, but my users had no trouble with that process (find hosting, then upload the image.) They can also hot link to other images on the net without having to upload it anywhere.

Does anyone know a way to have images show up in a post automatically once someone has uploaded them rather than having to edit the post after and clicking insert for each image?

I cant be the only person who has confused forum users out there.
