#1 yeah, that's kinda how it works right now. It's in need of some love.

#2 http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-no-admin/ removes ability for users to post bbPress content in admin area.

#3 When doing it that way, there is a forum and topic selection dropdown on the right hand side above where you publish the post. The idea being that a user can select the forum and topic right there.

I really think that is more just a quick way for an admin to post a reply, though I can't see why I would ever use it myself.

#4 probably a bug.

There are also plenty of code snippets online in order to completely remove the admin bar or remove menu's from the bar if you want. Pretty much just decide what you want to do and check google for the code snippets or plugins.

I'm just getting a new site up and running and I have some setup questions.

[1] I've created a page, called it 'Register', and put the shortcode [bbp-register] in it. When people visit the page, they can fill out their username and email address and click 'register', but after submitting the form there is no confirmation back to the user that anything actually happened. They simply see the form again. Is this the expected behavior?

[2] When a user is logged in, by default their account allows the 'Toolbar' when viewing the site. This is handy so they can edit their profile, logout, etc.... but there are also links to create a new topic or a new reply. This takes them to the wp-admin section of the site which feels strange. Is there a way to force people to only create new topics and replies from the "front-end" of the site?

[3] Along similar lines, people can create a 'New Reply' from this toolbar without even viewing a thread. What exactly are they creating a reply to?

[4] Right now all of the forums are marked as 'Closed'. When viewing the site from the homepage everything looks good and users cannot create topics, replies, etc. However if they use the toolbar to go into the wp-admin section they can create new topics there. Is this a bug? Since all forums are 'Closed' the topic doesn't get assigned a forum and doesn't appear on the main site, but it is still there with "(No Forum)" assigned.

Hi capitolweb,
Maybe a little more info can help us root this out.

Are you able to reach the admin section by entering the URL manually? That is, yoursite.com/wp-admin?

Also, I'm not sure if your theme supports this, but some themes show "edit" buttons on posts once an admin is logged in. Are you seeing anything like this, or do you think the authentication process is actually failing?

Hello,

I am using BuddyPress & tried to incorporate bbPress into the site with the "enable bbPress forums" option in the BuddyPress settings located in the administrator dashboard. Now, not only does my forum not work, but the administrator dashboard doesn't work either. In turn, I am unable to disable bbPress in the admin dashboard to correct the issue.

Someone please help! How do I get my dashboard back?

It is preferable to have the dashboard & the forum working, but the most important thing is to get the dashboard back. I can then install bbPress separately if I need to.

Thank you for your help in advance.

We've been running wordpress for a few months now, and decided to install bbPress. To integrate, we've tried to use different databases, as well as the same database. On our 5th attempt at installing bbPress and trying to integrate, our main blog was affected. Every page on our wordpress site are bringing 404 errors, except for our home page. We've also been locked out of our admin dashboard with this message: "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page."

I don't remember exactly all of the 'variables' that I tried during this attempt, but I do remember adjusting the prefixes. The only thing on the web that I could find, is this (But it doesn't go into how they fixed the issue). http://bbshowcase.org/forums/topic/404-pages-after-integration-w-wordpress/page/2#post-2039

Does anyone have a clue, as to what's going on, or how we can change our prefixes? We'd like to get our wordpress site working again. Thanks in advance.

Hello! Need some help please installing the forum and integrating withI WordPress MU 3.1

After trying to install 6 times in a row, I finally got it installed after inserting dummy data (followed this post: http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/forum-could-not-be-created).

But the admin account was created without a password. In the "New bbPress installation" email I got it told me the Username but not the Password.

Creating a new user does work though.
The admin user I created for the forum doesn't show up in my wp_users table, but the newly created user does.

Cheers!
