cocotrp, you can exclude IDs by modifying the mysql queries and changing

WHERE user_status = 0

to

WHERE user_status = 0 AND user_id NOT IN (1,2,3,4)

1,2,3,4 are the user_id's you don't want to be displayed.

I don't want those things in the bbPress core - I would never use them. That said, normally things like this can be added via plugins, which are optional and I wouldn't have to install them. Best of both worlds.

I am curious why you selected bbPress over phpBB if these core features are already present in phpBB but not in bbPress? Not a flame, an honest question.

Personally, what I want from an email notification service is:-

1. To notify me of when someone replies, but not EVERYONE that replies.
I love the fact that in phpbb.com the email notifies you, you click on the url and go to the next reply to your last post, and then you note that there are 20 other replies that you can read through neatly on the BB, but NOT 20 other emails to delete! The whole point of BB's is that they save email stress. I'd hate to lose this function just because we decided to go with bbpress not phpbb.

2. Being able to subscribe to not just threads, but FORUMS is also important for some users. In some large forums, some specialists need to know everything going on in that forum and might be so busy that they'd appreciate an email every time someone started a thread.

This sort of functionality should be standard in bbpress. I'm an activist spread very thinly over the internet, and RSS just doesn't cut it. I might see a thread, register, comment, and then forget about that whole forum until someone eventually replies. The email keeps me going back. With so many bulletin boards and forums to reply to and keep track of — that ALL pretty much notify of reply by email — why would I bother messing around with RSS as well? My email box is king, only it grabs my attention. This function should not be a plugin.

3. There should be a function in my profile where I can just click an automatic email generator, so that ANY time I reply in ANY thread, I am automatically emailed if someone replies.

This is standard, basic bulletin board protocol and absolutely has to be in the standard installation.

Anything that used
admin_email
with bbPress 0.8.x has to be changed to
from_email
under 0.9 (I am not sure why it was necessary to break all the plugins like that but what is done is done).

It should take a simple edit. I still get notification emails under 0.9. I believe I posted the fix on the plugin page.

Any answer about the Email Notification plugin? I agree that it's necessary to allow users to get emails when a new response is posted.

bbPress does a much better job at archiving conversations and making them searchable. The Email Notifications will help me ween my community off email lists.

Hmmm if I got it right, you mean the flickr Notification Style? Maybe it would be better to provide this as an extra plugin, because it would be a tooo big feature for mine (even in the upcoming, feature-loaded version :))

The best posibility I can think of at the moment, is doing this with a cronjob, but not everyone has cronjobs on his webspace account. So the more simple version would be a visit-based cronjob...

Anybody in for this? Or should I get my hands dirty? :D

Hi !
What's up with the email notifier ?
I had a look on the thomas website but the plugin is not there anymore ...
Anybody knows some others plugin like this ?
I'm looking for a plugin who notify in one e-mail by day/week (could be the choice of the user), what are the news topics on their favourite forum (not all forum). The plugin should also notify by e-mail all the replies in their favourites topics ... it could be in one email by day/week or one email for each notification (the must would be that user can choose between one e-mail for each notification or an email by day for every notifications of the day or one e-mail by week for every notifications of the week ...).
Unfortunately I don't have the programmation-skill of my ambitions ... anybody knows how it could be made ?
