I think it is. The only issue is if you had an integrated install, then you would have bbPress users in your wp_users and wp_usermeta table. You would probably have to manually remove those entries from those tables. Don't drop the wp_ tables, just the bb_tables.

I think that's about it. Once the code is gone from the filesystem, the database doesn't matter much except for keeping things tidy.

Hi,

I wish to uninstall bbPress from my WP 2.5 installation and was wondering if it were as simple as:

- Deleting the forum sub-folder from my /blog/forum folder
- Dropping the bb tables from the shared database

Thanks,

"Why does it matter? I'm curious."

1- Makes up for a long list when you've deleted hundreds of posts/topics

2- Bloats the database for absolutely nothing

Doesn't matter, I'm about to remove bbPress from my WP installation, not enough Admin control.

Thanks,

I had the same idea but commented out the entire contents of the login-form.php.
Removing or renaming will cause and error so leave it in place. Just open it and comment out the contents from top to bottom. It's the login form shown on the front page. This way when you are logged in, you will still see the your name and the admin link and logout option. This is working for me anyway.

Spend a while reading current posts in this forum; it's your best bet for being prepared. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward. With integration, be sure you have the same secret key from wp-config.php in your bb-config.php. It's pretty straightforward.

1. Use the same database if you want to integrate registrations.

2. Yes. Call the folder whatever you want.

3. Not sure. There was a post here at one point that mentioned directing all the registrations through WordPress since the registration plugins were more robust, but I can't find it now.

Hi,

I have upgraded my WP blog to version 2.5 and would like to integrate a bbPress forum. Before I do so, I would like to hear from people who have done this and could give me a few tips on how to go about it.

A few things on my mind:

1- Is it better to use a separate database for the forum (which I would prefer if possible)?
2- Should bbPress be installed in a WP sub-folder?
3- Is there a plugin or setting which would prevent users to register via the forum (disable forum registration) and would redirect the user to the WP registration panel?

Any advice (and good plugins) would be well appreciated.

Cheers,

1. Deleting a particular "deleted" post. (e.g. I certainly wouldn't want to see a post packed with profane wordings again. NOT EVEN in my admin panel.)

Short of actually going through the database and deleting the topics using phpmyadmin, I don't know of any tool that is available to delete the posts that 'already' deleted! I would imagine that a plugin could be written to do this for you, but in terms of space, I don't think that a post takes up very much space in the database, but your point is taken with great attention! I would love a simple plugin to do this as well to clean up posts and topics and there are many great code writers that use this forum and I wouldn't be suprised if one comes up to do just this!

Hi, this is a newbie to bbPress. Thanks for the great work.

Just want to ask before deploying the code into a semi-production environment.
It's great to hear that deleted posts can be undeleted.
But, how am I going to clean up posts that I'm sure I no longer need anymore?
I pay for web hosting and don't have a very large database.
Thanks a lot. Take care.
