Hi,
I have a problem.
We're running a multisite install and we want to run bbPress on one site.
Everything is in working order except user signup then visitors are redirected to wp-signup.php on root site.
I'd like them to always stay on the present site and that when they sign up they're assigned the role Forum Participant.
Is this possible?
Using Canvas theme from Woothemes. Copied files from the twentyten bbPress theme that comes with install.

I'm using the latest version of bbPress at http://www.mrhensler.com/forums. The forums show up fine, but when I click on them it just takes me to a blank page with a "comments are closed." Message. Any ideas?

Hi all,

I have been going nuts as to how I can successfully install bbpress latest version. Well, I tried everything and all just failed.

I downloaded the latest files, uploaded it in my root directory but never I did get the bbpress installation page. I am using latest WP installation (this is the intended URL http://www.easyenglishlearning.org/ask/) but I never got the bbpress installation instructions page.

Moreover, I also uploaded it to my plugins directory as mentioned in the downloading page and I got it in my Wp dashboard but it came just as a plugin and nothing a different forum software where I can change theme, and everything. Now, please guide me.

Just installed the bbpress 2.02 plugin on my site which is WP v3.3.1 - seemed to work ok but on trying to create a new topic (on the site i.e. as a user would) I get the following:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function akismet_test_mode() in /mypath/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-extend-akismet.php on line 350"

Not really too sure of the etiquette or whatever of posting links or code but I though this was such a show-stopper that someone else would have come across it - but nothing to be found here or elsewhere... I am also aware that 'test mode' may be a major clue, but to what I really don't know...

I’ve looked at solutions around here and found some that i thought would work but they didn’t.

This is a fresh WordPress, Buddypress, bbPress install. (Installed in that order)
When I installed all of the everything went fine(i think) until i wanted to access the site wide forums from the site.

When i click on the forums link in the menu it i get a red square that says “The forums component has not been set up yet.”

In Settings>Forums>Archive Slugs i get one error.

Forums base: Forums Possible BuddyPress conflict: Forums page

Other then that i’m not able to see the forum index (list of categories and their sub forums) even if i add [bbp-forum-index] to the forums page.

anyone got and idea of what’s wrong (except that i’m a complete beginner at wordpress).

Hi,

I have just installed bbPress as a plugin, and want to change the word 'Forum' or 'Forums' to Newsroom.

Is there a way to easily do this?

I have looked into creating a child theme, and adding the bbPress files into my current theme, but all of this seems like overkill for just changing a word.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

I've just installed the plugin and tried some sample topics. I have set up two forums with 4 topics. I have assigned 3 topics to forum1 and 1 topic to forum2. When I view forum1 I see all 4 topics, when I view forum2 I only see the 1 topic I linked to it.

Surely, when I view each forum I should see only the topics linked to them?? Or have I done something wrong?

Hi, we're using bbpress for our forum and only registered users have access to it. It's located on our public blog (Serenity child theme) at http://www.noonesthebitch.com.

Unfortunately, it seems that the forums are showing up, but when a user clicks on the Topic of any forum, it says no topics are found. As an admin, the topics are visible to me.

Also, if we go in and add a topic, all the topics are then visible to users, but eventually disappear again. It's like they're resetting or something.

We're using Wishlist Member as well and I've made sure that none of the content is hidden.

Any ideas?

I want to prevent users from creating new topics on my forum. I have everything synced with my WP installation, so new topics are created automatically with every new post.

I guess I just want to remove the links from the forum template/theme to create new topics...is this possible?

I have a host of problems and not sure really where to begin. Normally, I'd simply try uninstalling the bbpress plugin, but I only get all the same settings and experiences back when I try to start over. Here's a few of the problems I've got:

1.) We'd like to use the New Site Wide Forums option (vs Forums for Groups). My first question is this an either or scenario or do you have to use the Forums for Groups? I always have a "Use Existing" option for Groups and there is no uninstall button available. When I install the Site Wide and return back to the buddypress forums tab, it still reflects the Groups...

2.) Regardless of the option selected above, I can not get a Forum page to display...I only get 404. Yes. I've created a Test Forum instance and I'm using the "View" option to check it out. 404 error. (it is published and public, I'm logged in as admin)

If I were to try deleting the tables from the database, uninstalling the plugin and manually removing all server side files, would that help to start over? If so, what tables get removed??

I'm in the process of converting a standlone BBpress 1.1 installation into the 2.02 plugin version (well, really, recreating it from scratch in the plugin version, because the importer apparently doesn't work if your blog actually has any users or content).

And I've run into a problem - the default permalink structure for the BBpress plugin is really bizarre. It adds a "forums" slug for the forums area, which is fine and to be expected, but then it also insists on adding an additional "forum" slug before the name of each forum, so that instead of a normal URL like example.com/forums/announcements, you get example.com/forums/forum/announcements, which looks weird and awkward. I tried just removing the forum slug, but that left a double slash in the URL, which my web browser then reduced to a single slash, resulting in a 404 error.

And for posts within forums, instead of the sort of URL you would normally expect - i.e. for a post in the announcements forum, something like example.com/forums/announcements/welcome, or example.com/forums/announcements/12345 or whatever, you have example.com/forums/topic/welcome - there doesn't appear to be any way to associate the posts with the actual forum they're in.

Is there any way to fix this? Obviously the "forums/forum" thing is the most important - having the completely useless "topic" slug in the post URLs is annoying and pointless, but the "forums/forum" thing makes it look like I was drunk when I set the forums up or something - I really can't let it go live with a glitch like that in the URLs. But I'd like to fix the topic issue too if possible. Any ideas?

i wuold like to have email notifications to users with out them have to click "Notify me of follow-up replies via email" check box.

is that possible? it wuold be great that "Notify me of follow-up replies via email" wuoldnt show at all. so if you write to forum you wuold get notification every time someone wuold write answear to it.

Hi everyone! I'm new to BBPress and I'm quite the technology newbie, so please be as simple and specific as possible when answering my question otherwise I'm liable to not get it :)

Here goes: I have WordPress and installed BBPress. I have the Piano Black theme. My site is called Pro Football Chick (profootballchick.com/forums if you want to see what I'm talking about). Anyhow, I want the forums to have a tab on my front page at the top -- like the About, Home, and Contact pages. I also noticed that there's no way for someone to add a topic -- how can I fix that?
