Looks perfect. As I only want to give Editors the forum-moderation, I think, I only have to add the first part of the code.

A small hint: as I understand the code, there the code-comment in the 2nd part i incorrect:s
$role = get_role( ‘author’ ); // gets the editor role
It gets the author-role, isnt it?

After some hours I got the solution (which I didnt foudn in the codex, @netweb.

To use the Visibility-options, its is nessesary, to assign the forums to a category.

thanks, netweb. I already did before.

Only related hint i found is:

Visibility: decide whether your forum is public, private or hidden.

Public – Anyone can see these forums
Private – Only logged in registered users can see these forums
Hidden: Only Moderators/Admins can see these forums

I had created 3 forums, one of each visibility-option. But I (as logged-in admin) could only see the public forum. In the frontend I only see the public-forum in my top-menu. I also tried to add menu-entries for the other forum in my WP-custom-menü, but both forums didnt appear in the menu-creation (design / menu).
