@realhood I cannot reproduce your issue of ‘why my search function can’t work, when I use it,it always jump to the home page’
I see no issues using or not using the bbPress ‘forums prefix’

What do you have your permalinks set to? (‘Settings’ -> ‘Permalinks’)
What is the ‘Search Slug’ for bbPress set to? (‘Settings’ -> ‘Forums’ )I have installed XAMPP 1.8.1 for Windows and see no issues with ‘localhost’
For those using MAMP, what version are you using?
@hlwinkler Can you try your search ‘OpenEars’ using the Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve theme.
@themattman Can you please start a separate topic so we can go through your vBulletin issues.
When you start this new topic can you please include the exact details of the error messages you are seeing.
You also should not be running the ‘repair tool’ whilst the converter is still running, you run it after the conversion has finished. You may also want to check the docs here for any known issues with vBulletin conversion.
There is a known issue with bbPress Moderation plugin.
I raised the issue of bbPress 2.3 compatibility with the plugin author ~2 months ago and for now I suggest you disable this plugin until the author updates the plugin.
Congrats and Thanks to all who helped get bbPress 2.3 out the door… Yay
Again, thanks for writing that post.
I have a newer version of the ‘example’ converter that includes much greater inline documentation and ‘best practices’ based on all the other importers and it is now just a matter of updating the docs to match this and including it with a future release of bbPress.
We would be more than happy to include the Snitz Forums converter with bbPress. Just create a ticket and upload it to http://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/
Many thanks for taking the time to write this and share with the community.
I added a link to this post from http://codex.bbpress.org/import-forums/custom-import/
The bbPress theme/s you linked to are for the old bbPress 1.x.
If you are using bbPress 2.x plugin then bbPress will try to use as much of your default WordPress theme as it can. If you want to customize bbPress 2.x then follow the links from here to get started http://bbpress.org/themes/
Apologies but your topic had been marked as spam but I also can no longer find anything at the domain mentioned above.
I did have a “forums” in trash, I deleted it but it’s still linking to /forum-2. Any idea how to “refresh it”?
Try changing your permalinks, click save, change them back and save again and that should flush them.
Ah I get the – being added, I was more concerned with the forums/forum/ part of the link, instead of just /forums/.
That is the default bbPress structure, you can turn off the ‘forums prefix’ in settings and you would end up with /forum/general-discussion/
No we are all good… I removed the stuff regarding the links as this is working correctly.
Try creating a new WordPress page and add the bbPress shortcode [bbp-forum-index] to the page.
I have not tried this plugin and it hasn’t been updated in a while but it states it supports the bbPress plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-html-sitemap/
Try disabling all your other plugins as it looks like one of them is causing a conflict and get bbPress doing what you want it to do with correct menu items etc then enable your plugins one by one and check to see if bbPress works as it was to find the conflicting plugin.
That seemed to have worked ok, I no longer get the .htaccess error.
That will indeed help now that you have a .htaccess file for permalinks and the most common permalink format is ‘Post name’ which it appears you are now using.
Also, when I create a page and add the shortcode to it, it creates the tab for me, but it links to /forum-2, not forums. If I change the permalink, it just changes it back.
Make sure you don’t have a deleted page named ‘forums’ in your trash.
Also, when I view the forum via the “View” link in Dashboard>Forums it takes me to /forums/forum/general-discussion/, not forums/generaldiscussion.
WordPress removes any ‘whitespace’ from the names and replaces them with a hyphen, URL’s may not contain spaces.
It looks like maybe an avatar plugin is causing all your avatars size to be overridden, try disabling your other plugins and re-enable them one by one to find the offender.
Note: Apologies, your post had been marked as spam for the past weeks :/
Closing, Dupe http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/different-avatar-sizes/
I would suggest you have a search at here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/phpbb
There are some great mod_rewrite FAQ’s and phpBB examples.
Note: Apologies, your post had been marked as spam for the past couple of weeks :/
You would need to find a WordPress plugin that includes avatar support for bbPress
When you do an import if the user already exists eg. @TrishaM the importer will create a new user named @Imported_TrishaM.
Once the import is finished when you go to delete the user @Imported_TrishaM you have the option to delete the users created content or attribute them to another user, in this case you would select @TrishaM and the end result is everything is attributed to the user @TrishaM.
Usding the method above by ‘not deleting’ for example your blog authors would work well for your situation in regard to these users.
Everything is a kind of trade off in the end of how much to do manually versus automated :/
There are a few that support bbPress, just add ‘bbPress’ to your search criteria at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
@palmdoc I would suggest you ask that same question in their support forums http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/gd-bbpress-tools
