johnhiler, Sam did have some cool designs and ideas for the site, I’ll try to track that down and see if we can get a refresh going.

We chose a new name for it to avoid confusion.
I think I originally announced it a year or two ago, just nothing has happened with it until recently.
_ck_ is absolutely right about not putting one of the product names in your domain. Better to start with something unique that you truly own, rather than using someone else’s name.
It’s a good idea, I’m sure it’ll happen. Be patient!
The path is for the URL.
So if forums.example.com is public_html/forums/ on your server, you still just want / to be your path because when you load it in a browser it’s: http://forums.example.com/.

bbPress uses the exact same translation framework, gettext.
Large parts of it have already been translated as part of WordPress.com, but we don’t want to localize the default templates until we have proper themes. (Like in WP.)
There are no importers yet. Does phpBB have any sort of export format or would we have to work directly with their DB?
