@3leggedcat I’ve been out of town, and haven’t had a chance to look into it yet. As I stated in my original post, there hasn’t been activity on that forum in a year, so for now I just took it offline. I’ll be looking into it when I get home.
@Ben L. These posts were made long after I have deleted an account. With a deleted account, they wouldn’t be able to log in a year later and post spam.
In fact, bbPress is becoming a WordPress plugin. There has been a LOT of development in the last 4 months. More info here:

Thanks for the reply, JJJ. I’m not a developer, so when I go to trac I’m easily overwhelmed by the number of tickets and not sure where to look for specifics.
Sometimes it’s frustrating for users like me to get information about bbPress developments. I’d expect news to be posted here on the forum. Then there’s bbpdevel.wordpress.com, but that hasn’t been updated since September. I’m sure there’s info in IRC logs too. It seems there are many places for information to be posted, and it’s not always the place I expect it.
Anyway, I really do appreciate the information, and I’m looking forward to 1.1 (and also an update to the 0.9 branch).

I use the Hidden Forums plugin and hide everything. I use the Members Online plugin to display users who are currently online. I followed ck’s instructions to only show that list to registered members.

@RegNatarajan The bbPress plugin for WordPress isn’t even in alpha stage yet. It’s not ready to be used on a live site. You’ll need to be a little patient and let the developers do their thing. When it’s released, I’m sure you’ll see lots of theme options appear, plus plugins for the plugin!
In the meantime, the standalone version is available, and with a little work, you can integrate that into WordPress. At some point, there will be an importer if you choose to use the bbPress plugin when it is finally released.

Yes, change bb-config.php. You’ll need to edit the setting in that file first.

When uploading into /forum on your server, don’t load the bbpress-1.0.2/ directory… upload the contents of that directory (you’ll see the directories bb-admin, bb-cache, bb-images, etc… plus bb-config.php, bb-edit.php, etc).
Then point your browser to:

They should be up in a few days. I will announce here
Just curious if this is still in the works, or did I miss the announcement?
You can’t link to files on your computer. It’s always http. You’ll need to upload them to a service like Photobucket or your own web server before you can link to them.
Or, you can try ck’s bb-Attachments plugin: http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bb-attachments/
Not that bb-Attachments may not work in 1.0.2, or you may need to read through the thread to find code changes that will make it work.

Do you have bbCode Lite installed? That’s required.

My replies keep getting marked as spam… I’ve tried to post links to the plugins, but Askimet keeps marking them as spam even though they are all links to this forum!
Anyway…
There are two video plugins that you can install… bbVideo works with 0.9 and Easy Video Embed works with 1.0. You’ll have to search for them yourself since I can’t post the links.

The original bbVideo plugin works with bbPress 0.9:

There’s also a new plugin that works with bbPress 1.0:
