Annonymous posting = very requested Feature. It will surely get many others to participate. But as long as we can turn it off in the admin area it is OK with me.

Really need a facebook connect login. If no plugin will be avalable within the next 100 years I will take a forum system which offers this service. Simple machines forum (SMF 2.0) for example.

Just a little FYI, but I intend to have a bbPress theme framework done within the month, and hopefully a completed function list with descriptions within the next month or two.

You can get in touch with me at chris blat chriseverson blot net if you have anything to contribute to the function list.

@Ryan

"On a related note, I’m thinking of writing a tutorial to explain how to integrate WordPress headers and footers dynamically into other systems (like bbPress)"

That would be great...and I'm sure very helpful for people trying to use bbPress! I've created forums with matching headers/footers, etc before...but there is always more to learn.

Damn! I keep forgetting to turn up to these.

This is great that you post these here Matt. It makes the development of the software very transparent and reminds muppets like myself that we should actually turn up to the IRC chat! Perhaps WordPress IRC logs should be published on http://wpdevel.wordpress.com/? There's lots of stuff that goes on in WordPress chat which many of us miss because we don't make it to the chat. They're obviously stored, but lots of people don't know how to access them or just plain forget (like me).

It looks like bbPress is taking a more evolutionary, rather than revolutionary approach to development. I'd be more inclined to write a plugin for WordPress, then write a converter from the old system to the new one so all the posts etc. could be easily transported over rather than work on the existing system.

On a related note, I'm thinking of writing a tutorial to explain how to integrate WordPress headers and footers dynamically into other systems (like bbPress), so <strong>if I do a good enough job</strong> at least users will have an easy way to integrate the look of their sites until the move is made to it becoming a plugin.

Matt

About Anonymous Posting ... I have modified Austin Matzko anonymous plugin to get it to work with 1.0.2. See below. (I wanted to share this to give you a head start on creating it for 1.1).
