It looks like bbPress is taking a more evolutionary, rather than revolutionary approach to development. I’d be more inclined to write a plugin for WordPress, then write a converter from the old system to the new one so all the posts etc. could be easily transported over rather than work on the existing system.

Okay, I should have read the poll blog post thoroughly.

It appears the poll is closed. I think it should be re-opened.

I think that the Polldaddy poll from Christmas needs to be prominently featured on the bbpress.org homepage
http://bbpress.org/blog/2009/12/1-1-feature-poll/

Right now, I'm not even sure if site owners using bbPress are aware of this poll.

Putting the poll on the homepage will let more users decide.

In fact, post this somewhere on the wordpress.org forums as well; if this is going to become a canonical plugin, their voice needs to be heard.

---

I'm a fan of the third-most popular feature on the poll and that would be a WYSIWYG editor.

A forum poster should be able to express themselves freely without any barriers to entry.

Most users, by default, will not know HTML. To me, it's like removing the WYSIWYG editor from the WP admin post area and telling a WP / HTML novice to make a post complete with images, links and blockquotes.

They're not going to be able to.

Anonymous posting is quite a nice idea - though not very common. It would have to be handled properly, and Akismet would have to run at full capacity.

It would be nice to have a feature where anonymous posting can only occur in certain child-forums, for example, "From the Blog".

With that said - it would also be nice to have a built in feature where child-forums are only visible to members; where member resources can be stored and what not.

Annonymous Posting was much requested feature. It'll lower the barrier for participation for your users but you will be able to turn it off.

Why anonymous posting? As long as we can turn it off in the admin area, then I'm okay with it.
